It's a pretty common sentiment/choice of words. There's a Fall Out Boy song that goes "I wish I could hate you / half as much as I hate myself" or something along those things.

Ray would be way more likable to me if he hadn't gone through Hannah's room and played with her underwear/read her diary, which goes beyond "brutally honest asshole" and into "really creepy."

In addition, there is rarely such a thing as a preternaturally gifted writer. Even if someone has talent, it takes a lot of work, effort, failure, and luck to really be successful. Hannah seems like the kind of person who wants to be "a writer" without really knowing what that means or how to achieve it.

Well, humans are generally pretty violent, and I'm sure we'd be upset if some of our intelligent creations also turned out to be violent assholes.

The writers seem to be sympathetic to Christianity, so perhaps the aliens were going to punish us for the crucifixion? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but it's something.

Well, keep in mind that some main characters will be dead by then, and others somewhat consolidated. I imagine they'll have to pull off a Wire-esque switch of focus, but it can be done. Especially if major characters like Jon and Dany aren't as sidelined for as long as they are in the books.

Mance is supposed to be middle-aged, though. I could see them going younger, but I doubt it will be anyone as well-known (aka expensive) as Cillian Murphy.

Even though I love Seinfeld, I don't think of Elaine at all during Veep. I think it helps that she doesn't have the horrible 90s frizzy hair.

I think it's just DC conventional wisdom that *someone* has to get fired when there's either one major fuckup or, in this case, a series of small fuckups that create an air of general incompetence.
