The first one with "Dov"* from American Apparel had me in stitches.

You're missing out, because it's really funny. Can't blame the creators for the marketing strategy.

I don't think the show said that could never hold any lands, just that holding Winterfell itself was not a good idea. There are other, much more easily taken and held castles in the North. And as you said, there are other areas where they do engage in logging and other more substantial operations.

I don't know if this is ever entirely explained or if it's based on conjecture (perhaps from how carrier pigeons operate). But I recall reading somewhere that the ravens are born in a specific castle and then taken to another one at some point. So, they retain some innate knowledge of how to return "home," which

I think you kind of missed the point of Watchmen. It's a send-up of the superhero genre, questioning what kinds of messed-up psychopaths and narcissists would put on ridiculous costumes and go around beating people up. The ending, especially, is such a great subversion of the genre, where the villain comes out looking

Jeyne Westerling's mother was from Volantis in the book, so that isn't much of a clue either way. Her reticence when Robb mentions The Crag (the Westerling castle) suggests that there will be some significant overlap with the Jeyne character.

Why does that not make sense? Ironmen are pillagers, not conquerors. There's no way to resupply Winterfell by water, and it's in the middle of cold, hostile lands filled with people who hate Ironmen.

"Shitting Gold" would be extra hilarious because of Tywin's disdain for the merchant class. Instead of advising people about which commodities to invest in, every show would be about acquiring armies, conquering land, and crushing your enemies.

It's not really about the battle per se, it's about Tyrion. He is constantly underestimated due to his size, and has to prove himself with cunning and intellect. The chain was a brilliant tactical move on his part. As it stands, the show makes him look pretty hopeless.

They did this over at the ASOIAF subreddit a few months ago. Barristan won, IIRC.
