If you don’t summon other players, you will never get invaded in Elden Ring. The messages, genuine and otherwise, and the blood pools are too iconic a part of the franchise to leave out, IMO. 

All the multiplayer is optional.  I don't even have PS Plus right now and you can just play offline.  And you can play online and has some of the social features and elements of the multiplayer without doing competitive stuff.  It's basically all opt-in/out content.
