Yep. I’ve found voodoo math on medical bills, disregarding of Insurance agreements (requiring insurance arbitration to be involved), failure to bill insurance, and just plain clerical errors. All of which could have cost me thousands of dollars.

And I only need about 14% of that armful of cilantro, thanks.

I refuse to believe anything is warm enough for Minnesota.

we were so programmed to think it was bad...but if you really start thinking about it, NOT cleaning it occasionally is gross

Counterpoint: My breakfast sandwich is just fine the way it is.

Mess with the crabbo, you get the stabbo.

“When they finally came out, it’s very heated. Especially if someone is taking more than their fair share.”

Mmmmm.  King crab legs.

If there is a line of people waiting for an item to be restocked on the buffet, and you, being first in line, take everything they bring out - you better be ready to fight.

Stevie flings open her shawl vault: My vault sparks joy.

One of my favorite childhood memories of my dad, a thoroughly undramatic person, is his recounting the saga of Fleetwood Mac for me while we were waiting for my brother’s basketball game to end. As a tween who had listened to the “Storms” demo on repeat, but with few research skills, I was awestruck by this folk

As long as you’re not a Senator or Congressperson or ahem sitting President, giving out shit about people not being entitled to this, that, and the other being “handed” to them by the government, while being handed a big paycheque by the government, you’re good!

Yep, I feel you. Not the same, but I take a medication that screws with my appetite, and I know I can't rely on my body's cues when I'm taking it. And that's perfectly ok.

I clicked through to both the Slate and Daily Mail articles that are linked to, and both have an anonymous claim made against an anonymous person in an anonymous childcare facility in an anonymous location. The majority of bankruptcies in the USA are from medical debt, and the majority of those people had health insurance...

My apologies if this sounds too harsh but as a former ED doctor (admittedly in Australia, hence the ED not ER), I hope there’s a special place in Hell for people who say you can just go to the ED (ER) - starting with GW Bush (also for all the other bad things he did).

Her statement about the trauma of being so helpless and left without any guidance between hospital visits and navigating insurance payments and deductions resonates so truly.  People need to acknowledge and talk about the nightmare of doing all of this while you are sick and disabled, and suffering through all of it

I was in the hospital last week, and I’m honestly surprised MORE people don’t die of medical errors and arbitrary denials. I had them try to give me medication that was not meant for me (it was ordered under my name by accident). Then they tried to give me a medication I can’t have because I have chronic renal failure

Insurance needs the same oath as Doctors to do no harm.
