Translation: I'm special, and I know what "the trenches" feel like.

Hai, bro. Mid-30's gamer here. Been with WoW since Vanilla.

It was harder back-when because the market was smaller back-when. MMOs were a niche environment when WoW released, and to some extent, they still are.

That the awful "casuals" have invaded

So the hardcore game you returned to was... FFXIV?

"Have female characters of various body types"

Steve, I can't help but think that the bullet point list should be in the article, along with your analysis. Mentioning 8 points but then spreading them into paragraphs with no clear headers is a little frustrating as a reader.

I mean, it's a lot of "don't create the thing you want to create" and not "I would like to see more of" which I think is the central problem with her stance overall. If someone wants to make lingerie as armor, then they should be able to do that... just like if someone doesn't want to do that, they don't have to.

"Happily, this is another easy one to solve," she said, when lamenting the sexualized grunting that she often hears from female game characters who are supposedly engaged in combat.

Shorter version, if you just want the list of the list of what she says are "Eight things developers can do to make games less shitty for women", paraphrased from my notes... not that a lot of this pertain to action games and probably make more sense if you're thinking about first and third-person shooters, the Arkham

Our arrows will blot out.... any chance of your computer ever running this game mode.

Shameless promotion of Ani-TAY. Getting a ML reference in was a bonus though.

I have done the best I could with MS Word. Please forgive the shittieness

Can we all just appreciate, for a moment, the genius that is Jason Schreier's opening sentences to Destiny articles??

When I see BS statements like "Every time I see a Field of View slider, I feel like developers don't care or respect the moving image." I basically write off the rest of what that person has to say.

You don't need any of that (especially a life, game development will destroy that). Cave Story was made by one dude over a few years. Dust: An Elysian Tail was made almost entirely by one guy, aside from him getting other people to do the music and voice acting.

Oh, I think he believes ALL of it. He's not vindictive or deliberately deceitful - he's just bumbling. He's basically trying to develop 2015 games with an attention span that was stretched to breaking point with 1992 development cycles. It would almost be endearing - like a forgetful professor in a 1950s comedy if

"I said we want to make a great game, and I still stand by that."

Art is not finished when the artist says it is. Art must be viewed and interpreted by an audience. Sometimes it's correctly interpreted and sometimes it's not—that's for the audience to decide.
