You don’t want an ‘89, you want a ‘90. With a saddle interior, it will be reminiscent of the bridge on the Star Trek TNG’s Enterprise D. And it won’t have that awful body-color rub strip on the outside.

or you could find a wrecked supercharged Rivie and put the engine in this Reatta.

I love, love, LOVE those interiors designed by the one guy at R&D who refused to use a french curve.

This is the kind of thing you take to Radwood and people are either repulsed or can’t get enough. At Radwood you might get people asking what the heck is it, why is a Bitter wearing Buick badges, isn’t that from the wrong decade, etc. And then there are the others who, like you and me, see these

Well written, thanks for this. Made me feel good about 90's American cars, lol.

I remember the ‘90s when people insisted the Reatta would be a future collectible. And here we are.

GM plan

Presuming no issues with the drivetrain, 100% NP.

Absolutely staggered that a) you didn’t talk about the CRT-based touchscreen control unit that controlled radio, climate, displayed gauges, and more, and that b) said CRT is still operational. Like, you have no idea how huge it is that the CRT is still operational.

Neat little cars, and if you specifically want a Buick Reatta that’s a pretty solid NP. Personally I think they’re incredibly mediocre to drive. I’d keep an eye out for a clean 98 or 99 Buick Riviera supercharged. One of the last boaty Personal Luxury Coupes with an infinitely tunable L67 3800 putting out 240 claimed

I saw the 3800 V-6 and I’m like, how long has that thing been around? Tank of an engine.

Needs a 3800 SC swapped in.

No animated raisin, no sale.

That’s what I was thinking; $2,500 gets you an early-00's Camry or Accord with 250k miles...this thing is way cooler.

Slam dunk NP.

The styling on these has aged well.

Definitely! Replace that missing trim-piece and this thing would basically be 100%. Park it next to the Allante at Radwood and make Chad look like a bitch!

My FiL is on his 4th of these glorious little cars. He has also had an Olds Trofeo.

It’s cheap enough that it falls under the anything that will get you to work price clause. I think it’s also a genuinely interesting car, as GM’s last effort (that I can think of) to make a halo car for normally conservative Buick. It’s easily a NP.

Fer sure! Rare enough that it will be a great conversation-starter anyplace you go where there are gearheads. Cheap enough to be disposable. Surprisingly decent condition, considering its age. Not a car you see every day; or even once a month/year.
