I am like 98 percent sure the last two seasons of Smallville were entirely about him learning to accept his destiny and give up a normal life. But whatever because Tom Welling! Playing Clark Kent!

The research you are quoting is very young kids, generally under 5 years old. Kids older than that need variety and not mindless repetition. 

I know my kids would love a repeat button too and I’m glad it doesn’t exist! I know its TV, but at least let it force them to watch new stuff. A repeat option cant be good for kids with already short attention spans.

I was surprised that the original announcement wasnt just that HBO was going to become HBO Max. Its already pretty pricey for HBO alone ($14.99 I think) so you would think at that price point they would just merge in HBO Max and use that as a new marketing tool for both new adoption and retention.
