I’m sure fans said the same thing when Search for Spock came out; that Wrath of Khan had to have some kind of permanence to what Spock did. As long as this new story has a meaningful reason for him to come back, I’m all for it. If its just some fan service that undoes his sacrifice then yes, it will feel cheep.
