Nah, I don’t think Greg is nearly big enough.
Nah, I don’t think Greg is nearly big enough.
I really did not buy into any sense of sincerity on Shiv’s part. That was “the play.” It was clever and it worked. But I do not for one second believe that she meant any of it or that would be her actual approach to running Waystar.
You’re focusing too much on how this Joker compares to the Joker from the comics. I see them as two completely different things, and I think the film makes that clear. This isn’t a comic book accurate Joker origin story. It’s a film using the idea of “the Joker” to explore themes like mental health, income inequality…
If those are your main criticisms of the film, they’re fairly weak. It sounds like you’re judging the movie for not being what you expected, rather than anything wrong with the movie itself. For example, how is the Joker not being a “tortured genius” a criticism of the film? It certainly seems like you’re blaming the…
Why is this film different?
Yeah...no. The studios don’t care about actors. They knew they stood to make more money together than apart. This deal was always going to happen.
Like I said, WB probably feels this is unprecedented. A few hundred people have seen this movie. This is fearmongering.
I’m old enough to remember a week ago when the right tried to blame gun violence on video games and the left pushed back.
Yeah and he’s 110% right. This is a weird narrative that is being pushed by people like Sam Barsanti so they can pump out a few more articles with the word “incel” in the headline and wonder about how damaging this movie is going to be while pointing out how dangerous white people are.
I gave up on this guy’s reviews last season when he complained that the show wasn’t telling him how to feel...if I wanted someone to tell me how to feel, I’d quit watching television and join a cult.
Spoken like a Democrat or Republican.
C+? Why are you reviewing South Park if a really good episode like this gets a C+? This was the best premiere in years. The episode didn’t make a coherent point because they’re just setting up the plots. You don’t complain a film isn’t a complete package 15 minutes in, do you?
Don’t shame “snitching”. Exposing criminals is in the interest of society as a whole, and we want more people to come forward, not less. Yes, we’re talking about a garbage person, but the information he provides is valuable. And there is nothing valuable, or even moral, in remaining loyal to a criminal gang. So, don't…
I can’t seem to understand why this movie has created this backlash. There have been uncountable movies that have portrayed killing and murder in realistic and maybe “relatable” ways, often glorifying that content. But most reports have indicated that this film does not portray the murderous Joker as a hero.
You’re being just as much of a paranoid idiot as everyone else is.
You are getting more uncomfortable about this film because you are consuming media made by people who want to make you feel uncomfortable.
Look up the word fearmonger. It will help you understand. Or look into the satanic panic of the 80s and 90s, as well as video games causing violence belief that was proven to be nonsense with a whole lot of studies, this is the same shit in an even dumber generation of people.
That’s the problem: practically NO ONE has actually seen it yet. But everybody and their dog claims to know that it contains horrible things that will destroy the world. Notice it says social media posts related to extremists classified as “incels”, not made by. Sounds almost like a direct quote from the earliest…
Yes, but in the fine tradition of Baltimore quarterbacks, let's spend the next decade arguing about whether or not Lamar Jackson is elite.
I’m shocked. Shocked that you guys haven’t posted anything about the doctor suing him for farting in his face and not paying his bill. That’s classic Deadspin content!
