i have been in the industry for about 11 years now and service generally outweighs looks unless the person plays the flirt card with a total moron. the servers i have known that have always made the most money were unattractive and annoying but ridiculously good at service. btw her gushing over your tip is crazy…

there are many many service industry people that will absolutely argue you to the ground against removing tipped wages. the tipped wage keeps prices lower, encourages foh workers to actually do their job, and rake in serious money. servers and especially bartenders make a bonkers amount of money on this system.

honestly they would probably be fine. as somebody that deals with crackheads and junkies multiple times a day, they are more a nuisance than a danger. the last thing they want is to get caught so they will book it over facing any kind of confrontation.
