This, OEM's pushed the EPA to consider the truck and trailer combo for CO2 credits, however Cummins fought against them. See Cummins only makes engines and not trucks/trailers so they said they would be disadvantaged.

A 4spd with range is effectively 12 speeds. Thats the equivalent of a CVT in terms of RPM control. The cost of this setup vs a CVT is huge, not to mention that most OTR trucks cruise in just a few gears.
Looks to have OZ Ultraleggera wheels too. Very nice.
As such, Toyota will offer unionized workers their biggest pay lift in 13 years, which is about 3.2% on average or $32.94 a month. Not a huge amount, but it's a big deal for Japanese companies. This is good for Abe, who needs personal wealth to grow along with corporate wealth to spur domestic consumption. Toyota has…
If the focus ST is just a focus than the WRX is just a base impreza. They both operate on the same architecture. I actually found almost the opposite of your impressions. I liked the FoST interior more (the WRX rattled when brand new), I thought the shifter feel was a lot more communicative than the WRX.
The amount of people who think they need AWD in the DC area is too damn high. Just get a proper set of tires.
CARB mandates are directly responsible for me having a job... It's a love hate relationship but without OBD on HD diesel I wouldn't have a job.
My 2006 TDI is 3,300 lbs, 100 hp and 178 lb-ft.
Of all the Holdens to bring over. Why not this? It would be much better than the SS. The SS doesn't really stand out from the rest of the line-up and it definitely doesn't scream performance to me. Bring over this, make all the current engines available, from the Turbo 1-4 to the LT1
Don't forget the Lincoln Navigator. #slammed
I'm not sure what their official title is but they are test technicians in the engine development laboratory. They have enough seniority to get these positions, it's not based on skill or aptitude just how many years you spent turning wrenches in overhaul. This bargaining unit is separate from our operations…
My pay is competitive within my industry. $100k for a mechanic who spent enough years turning a wrench is not ok. The area is a very low cost area is very low cost as well.
It's not a skilled trade. These guys are mechanics that earned enough seniority to become test technicians. They were taught how to operate a test rig and let loose.
My parents bought a Prius in 2008 (whatever) with cash. Follow 3 rules. Negotiate vehicle price, then negotiate trade in, then negotiate financing.
If you aren't trading in, or aren't financing keep that in your back pocket. If they ask just say it depends on what you can give me. And that's not a lie. If they offer…
Nope our lab technicians will easily clear $100K working an average of 50 hours a week. Saturday's are 1.5X, Sundays are 2X pay. Holidays are 3X pay.
These are guys with no higher level education, guys who can't trouble shoot their own emissions benchs, test rigs, ect. Don't get me wrong I love the guys I work with…
Peak Cylinder Pressure and Soot production increase with CR. To keep these within design limitation you de-rate the engine, and you make a less powerful, larger motor, which is also more efficient as well. Soot production really does increase quickly with CR. Soot is produced when there's a short delay between fuel…
This setup should have less pumping losses. Closing down a VGT turbine generates more pre-turbine pressure which in turn makes the engine work harder.
Tavarish, I love your articles, especially these Top 10 posts.
Might I suggest one for you. "Top ten convertibles under 10K? or "What car should your middle age'd mom buy now that all the kids are gone"
And if you drive more than the average? Then you buy a 6 year old TDI...like this guy.
Maybe I'm spoiled by my MK5 Jetta's seats.
