If Kojima is actually doing this, then I will be a very happy fan, simply because Solid Snake will get an appearance. And hopefully, another game in the future, although that, also, is a long shot I think, just because MGS4 was framed in a way that Solid Snake will be retiring for good.

Hehe. Well WITP I think is more drama-focused, so I can see how it would look like a soap opera to some. What really made watching that 4 (?) episode OAV special is the ending, IMO, and it gave me a clearer image of the price that war in the UC timeline really charged.
I think it will also be helpful for newcomers to watch the Zeta and ZZ series as well, if only to see how the whole UC conflict has both good guys and bad guys on both sides. It also has a compilation movie trilogy, although I think some of the details were changed compared to the original Zeta TV series.
Same here, Stardust Memory is my favorite, although War In The Pocket and MS IGLOO is right up there in my second place.
