I remember trying to test drive one, and the dealership told me they’d have to run a credit check because ‘they only had one on the lot’. Beautiful car let down by the sales / infrastructure around it and the Kia experience.
I actually enjoy my Car Thing. I drive a 68 Volvo Amazon wagon on the weekends with a magnetic car mount on the dash for my phone running Google Maps. Below the dash I have the Spotify Car thing installed with another magnetic base. It’s mostly hidden and gives me easy access to scroll through/change playlists.
As the proud owner of a 1968 Amazon Estate (or, Kombi, if you like) I never expected to read a Jalop article about my fun weekend hobby car. A hoot to own, the most fun to rip around the PNW and a testament to the idea that it’s way more fun to drive a slow car fast than the other way around.
Oh - EVERYONE has a Volvo…
