The news I read said it’s only available on a couple higher trims - not across the range. Which seems lame to me, but I’m not in the market for a truck.

I don’t think you deserve as much abuse as you’re getting. Lots of people here seem content to jump down your throat with logistical technicalities. I think the point of your post is perfectly clear, and valid...regardless of whether I could technically get a car to my door in a month. Lighten up, people.

I’m happy for you and your M4, but not everyone is so lucky. Can’t we agree that the process for car buying could be simpler and less deceitful, without calling each other “stupid?”

Huh, I wouldn’t have expected that. But the only car I’ve ever seen bump-started was a 2001 VW Golf, which is of another era at this point. I wonder if other modern cars are similar.

Heh...that makes two of us (in my case I’m watching for the Alltrack order guide).

I don’t believe the 2018 Golf order guide is out yet. I’ve only seen the GTI. Search for Emich VW. They’re a dealer in Colorado that posts the order guides on their site. There are probably other sources too, but this is the one that people seem to use most, for some reason.

I want, and God-willing will actually get, a VW Golf Alltrack (with a stick). It’s been a bit of a saga. I ordered a 2017 late in the model year. They told me on the DAY OF that it was the last possible day to order a 2017...luckily I was free after work to visit my dealer. Thanks for the heads-up, VW. Then they

Although I’m sticking with fossil fuels for now, I have always been a fan of the Chevy Volt. I agree that a plug-in can be a great compromise. And as batteries get better, plug-ins get better and become closer to true electric cars. It’s the perfect transition vehicle for people whose needs or fears do not permit them

Wow, you learn something new every day. So I guess my hangup was that I had never heard a leaf spring being used in a “car.” Thanks!

Gonna throw this out there without doing my research. What does the poster mean by “Coil springs (FINALLY)”? Is he referring to what’s known as “coilovers” in some tuner circles? Because to me, a coil spring is just a spring, which...all cars have. So, obviously previous ‘Vettes had those.

That looks like a circa 2012 rendering of the circa 2021 CC (I made all that up). In other words, useless and 100% stylized. Is there not a more, um, believable render available yet?

Also, I locked a pump on the other day and it didn’t click off when the tank filled. It made a little “bump” sound, but kept right on pumping. So it kept dumping gas all over the side of my (rental) car as I frantically fought with the handle. Now I’m afraid to use this feature even if I’m standing right there.

I believe I’ve used that exact word before in describing it to friends. Now, if Subaru makes the Outback less fugly and brings the stick shift back, it will be Alltrackified. :)

Well, the regular Golf Sportwagen (and last-gen Jetta Sportwagen) came first. So, the Alltrack is more like a jazzed-up version of an honest-to-god FWD regular wagon. At least VW did it in the right order...I think.

With that front overhang, how could it not be good?

Oof. That instrument cluster brings me back to my childhood, riding around in my parents’ Quantum. Check out that “upshift” arrow. When was the last time you saw one of those? I’d more likely look for a 90's Jetta GLX VR6 for this price (closer to my childhood dream), but this thing is nice.

“Manufacturing bottleneck.” In other words, the same reason that any other production process in history has ever been delayed.

Absolutely.

My unpopular (around here) car opinion is that German car reliability CANNOT be fixed by good maintenance. All car brands have plenty of schlubs who buy them and don’t maintain them, or do maintain them. It all averages out. And yet German cars, speaking broadly, do not manage to be as reliable as others. Some German

My friend was just lamenting to me how, when trying to buy/download feature films (either on blueray or just the file), the 4k versions are 2-4 times the price of the 1080 versions. He figures that 4k has been around long enough, there’s no way it actually costs that much more to simply provide a bigger file to the
