This is the trilogy I have been waiting 25 years for.

At this point, I’m so used to wearing a mask, I don’t mind wearing it a while longer until we reach herd immunity. Though that might be longer than a while from reading the news about people still suspicious about the vaccine.

They actually introduced me to Mystery Incorporated, or whatever the one that was on about 10 years ago was. It’s great. It’s like a junior Venture Brothers. There is an episode with a haunted Ska band, what’s not to like. 

Such a great, great show. Criminally underrated, even if it sits exactly on the border of how cringy a show can be and allow me to still get through it. The songs helped.

The tromboner for my shitty teenage ska band wrote a song for us called “When Band Kids Go Wrong” about pretty much that same thing. Which was an excellent song, and to this day I fail to see why someone once unplugged our stage monitors while we were halfway through playing it.

I have been listening to more punk and ska the past year, old and new. Bite me Bambi and half past two are absolutely delightful.

Everybody hates ska until they go to a ska show.

I miss the late 90's ska and swing revivals. It just made everything feel more cheery despite many of the songs’ lyrics actually not being so.

You would think ska would have been a natural fit for me, but at the time I decided that any modern music that wasn’t metal was terrible. I started listening to ska after college and really feel like I missed…

As a child of 80s, 2 Tone and hardcore, and a teen of the 90s, emo, pop punk, and 3rd wave and now squarely in my 40s, I welcome any new entries into my playlists. I have been defending ska for a lifetime and will never stopping unironically skanking.

Ska doesn’t need to be rehabbed, it’s never stopped being awesome.
