You don't sound rude at all. I actually had an appt with my psychologist today (he's awesome) but my oldest child is sick so I'm unable to go. You are his sub for today.

Excellent point.

Getting my sister involved means my mom will be all over her for telling me. I genuinely don't wish that on my sister. She blocks my mom's calls and texts when my mom gets on a real tear, but my sister has her own shit to deal with.

Ugh, I meant "whose"

You have no idea how tempting that is. All I can say is, she's functioning, she appears to the world to be "normal" — if a little self-involved. Basically, only my sister and my dad (her first husband) and I understand what she's really like. Oh, and my husband, who says I 'win' the "who's family is nuttier?"

Gun etiquette question: I know, via my sister, that my mom intends to get a handgun. My mother has borderline personality disorder and a drinking problem and is probably the last person I'd hand a gun to. My mom, I am certain, won't tell me there's a gun in her home.

Three words: BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER. And sheesh, she just advertised it to the whole world.

I think I'll leave them alone — they're consenting adults, even though I think the poor girl never stood a chance — but I don't think they should be allowed to make other children together.

Ok, so who saw Nowhere Boy? Anybody remember how inappropriate John Lennon's mom was with him? I've read that's taken from fact. Add to the fact that he didn't grow up with his mom (he grew up with his aunt) and it fits this sort of dynamic.

I think it's hard to know where to put your hands in a photo, and then to be pregnant also…it's like you have to make these choices really fast, and hand-on-hip seems to make sense. But yeah, the pose is a tired one.

Richmond is the only Goth for me. IT Crowd forevah!

I feel like I like Ted Danson less for dating Whoopi (and so, what the hell is Mary Steenburgen doing with him?!?)

I often wonder whether the reason they've been slow on the privacy uptake has a bit to do with the age of the people working there. The older you get, the more complicated your relationships are and the more you're able to empathize with those who need privacy. Of course, the fact that Facebook's pretty craven in

That sounds like what I remember. The second, I believe, was a surrogate pregnancy.

Not trying to split hairs here, but it sounds as if she physically had a baby at 43. Didn't she use a surrogate? I absolutely believe that child is hers, and I'm not taking issue with surrogacy, but I feel like she made it sound as if things happened the old-fashioned way that time around.

I've tried buying alcohol in Texas before noon on a Sunday. Got shut down. FWIW, I wasn't planning on drinking it then, which makes me mad.

Next April, I'll have been married 15 years. That's the year my own parents' marriage really came apart at the seams (though there were plenty of signs beforehand.) I just wanted to say I'm surprised *more* marriages don't end in the first couple of years. Being married can really crystalize who you're with and

This is my mom. Seriously. She thinks any butt bigger than hers is somehow an affront to polite society. I think she's been shocked ever since JLo came into national consciousness and wasn't shamed.

Here just to add Chris O'Dowd and Marian Keyes.

I had never heard of Paper magazine before this. Am I the only one?
