While the author may not know who advertises, management does. Why would they take advertising dollars from a company they just vilified on their blog? Seems hypocritical. It would be like an environmental blog taking ads from oil companies. It’s a conflict of interest.

Amazon’s dominance certainly limits choice, especially when it comes to shopping online

I understand that you can’t recreate a person from the ground up. But this would be like drawing a picture of Trump with Fabio hair and a muscular body. It’s just not realistic.

My point about the pic is that it looks far more modern than most other “interpretations” of humans from that time period. The blue eyes are probably the only factual representation in the pic.

I’d say getting hacked is a result of weak security. Different, yes, but related.

Well if someone got your key and made a duplicate, I’d consider that a hack. I feel the word hack has evolved to encompass any unauthorized access to a system. Back in the day it meant gaining access through a back door such as an unsecured service like FTP or SSH.

I think it’s great that they are able to tell so much from DNA, however, I have to question some of the comments made. Given this sample seems rare how can you say that her features were “common”? I mean how many actual samples of people from that era do we have? And I’m curious as to how they were able to trace her

Yeah, no shit. Somehow I think this “picture” has been artistically rendered. You reckon she actually looked like that?

Sounds like a pretty common situation, for the gun owners I know. Most people I shoot with, especially ones with kids, secure their firearms but their home defense firearms are nearby and easily retrieved in an emergency.

Break-ins happen at night quite a bit around here. Sometimes they just prowl cars in the driveway. But if someone did break in around here it would be 15-20 mins before the Sheriff could arrive, unless he just happened to be down the street, which is unlikely. Imagine a woman at home alone? What can she do?

The whole article is about a guy so scared he slept with his gun. Why does he have a gun in the first place, for home protection, if it’s not readily available all the time?

Not to mention we know now he has a firearm in the house. Now it’s worth breaking into.

The obvious question is why do you have the gun in the first place? If you had to be “scared” to sleep with your gun nearby what do you do when you’re not scared? If you’re firearm isn’t handy in the middle of the night when someone is breaking in on your, what’s the point? Unless you’re a recreational shooter, maybe.

Why do you presume that they intend to do harm? As I asked, can’t it be a win-win situation? I don’t know why you don’t see the value of an investment back into the community that is larger than the tax credits they would get in addition to creating jobs which have taxable income and benefits?

These are not birds. They are city pigeons, aka rats with wings. Now they are rats with hats and wings and things.

Reminds me of the days when Senheiser came to the US. The first headphones were pricey but looked cheap as hell. They utilized plastic headbands and foam ear covers. Compared to the Koss Pros, with oil filled ear pads, that weighed what seemed like a couple of pounds the Senheisers were light, looked cheap but sounded

That’s one way of doing it, though it seems to me it’s more work. I’m not really worried about sites where I would use a burner email, since those sites usually don’t get any info that would be useful to anyone. It’s those core sites, banking, credit card, Equifax etc that are more important and more dangerous if

Actually no. Common sense says you should not rely on a single method of securing your accounts. A password is a single point of failure and while I am not the sort of person to open strange email attachments my accounts have been compromised because some admin for some web site failed to protect my account

I think the problem is that many of us aren’t idiots but when sites get hacked your password could be out there in the wild. 2FA ensures that even if they get the password it will be harder for them to crack the account. 2FA is a matter of seconds so I think the “waiting” comment is a bit overstated.

Hahaha, yea ok.
