Obviously someone who is working a warehouse job isn’t going to be able to pick up a SQL book and start architecting a database which will get him/her a 6 figure job.

Sorry but I don’t agree with your analysis. SW and robots are tools, just like shovels and plows. Have you not noticed the explosion over the past quarter century of Software related jobs? Have you not seen how we are developing new markets and new ways of bringing products to market? Have you not seen how we have

This would be potentially one of the reasons I might favor corporate taxation. With no workers to pay taxes you need a way to replace that revenue. You could, I suppose, put a consumption tax in place which would tax the use of the product.

Do you have any numbers on that? How many small local businesses have people making $150K? My guess is not many of those hot dog vendors are making 6 figures.

the odds of them filling even a fraction of the positions by the time the jobs are actually ready to work after construction and prep are finished are slim

Until the payroll is run, there are no guaranteed jobs.

a “head tax” on big businesses that would have helped support homelessness services

Other than your single anecdotal example do you have any specific numbers on how much prices went up or down as a whole and on what products? Also, when were you in College? Was this recently or some years ago? Also, can you correlate any tax breaks the company did or didn’t receive during that time?

Ah, that’s different.

Uh, they have to make up the difference. That’s the law.

Why is that a shitty thing to do? Why shouldn’t the cooks get paid tips, they did most of the hard work? All the server did was carry the tray to the car. Most restaurants have or recommend tip sharing with the kitchen and other staff (bar, bussers etc).

Ugh, the one by us is mediocre at best. Nothing like the Sonic’s I frequented back in the 70s/80s.

Revenue and income numbers don’t tell you anything about what they pay employees. Furthermore, wages should be paid based on the value of the job to the business, not some arbitrary measure. Do you really think someone walking a tray of burgers to your car is worth paying $20/hour?

It’s probably more about worker safety and liability than laziness. One server goes down on skates and you can bet the law suits will come.

Yes I willingly pay taxes and I vote for people who I believe will keep that taxation reasonable and not burden me with unfair taxes.

I wasn’t comparing used gear though that is a consideration I hadn’t thought of.

The 1070Ti is $500, not exactly a little more expensive. The 2060 is $70 which is not as much but it’s 20% more than the 1660. The RX590 looks to be only $10-20 cheaper and potentially slower. Not sure I agree with your logic.

Well who do you think is using all that oil they pump out? Do you think they use it all for themselves? Yeah context is important, like where does the oil get used.

Not as much as watching Jussie.

I agree on the “unskilled” jobs. I had many friends that worked on off-shore rigs when they were younger, making good money for high-school graduates.
