it certainly could.

I found myself out of work about a year ago. Being a little bit older it was a little bit harder to jump right into another job. The first thing we did was cut back on all of our unnecessary expenses. We trimmed our cable bill by over $100, cut the cell phone bill in half, got rid of one of our cars and in general cut

I think you’re right on the housing, though part of that is that younger people want to live in the city where rents are much higher. People are into conspicuous consumption, it’s nothing new really, but these days it’s so much easier to click and have that 70" TV delivered right to your door.

Well, I would argue that the American brand of capitalism does value labor, but it values “skilled” labor. If the best you can do is drop fries into hot oil without getting third degree burns you might want to consider night-school or some sort of training program and forego the TV.

I think your take is certainly one way to look at it. I think you can look at this in many ways though. For example, you could say this is about extreme Political Correctness and Social Justice. We have become so sensitized to political incorrectness and social injustice that just wandering around observing every day

I totally understand. My mom has moments of dementia but then she can be as clear as a sunny day at other times. The main thing we will do for her is to write down all the commands she should use. I’ll also put some sort of parental controls on so she doesn’t go on a spending spree. LOL

While I appreciate the difference I do think that actually researching whatever you’re writing is a good thing. My take on these types of blogs is that they heavily plagiarize other works and then link to that material at the bottom of the article (in this case The Guardian).

No doubt.

Huh?

that kills you if you simply look at it

Really? You’re going to come on here and give me shit about something you don’t know the first thing about? Pro Tip: People like you should STFU if you don’t have anything of value to say.

You are probably right about that.

Yeah, I wonder about the “journalism” here on Gizz, or rather the lack thereof. Sure, the European servers went down, now a good reporter might have actually tried to understand what caused them to go down and if this is specific to the large number of Echo devices purchased or, perhaps, an unexpected outage

I’d have to agree with you on your first point. The super-hero movies are great, but not what I’d call a “best” movie. They are fun and entertaining and I like them a lot.

To be fair they entertain a lot of somebodies though.

“Indians”? I think you mean Native-Americans. I’m sure the good folks in Bangladesh could care less what the football team is called.

Yes they do. I know,  I use plumbers and electricians in my business all the time. They are not cheap nor are there so many that you can get one at a moment’s notice. One of the wealthiest guys I’ve known in my life was the owner of an electrical contracting business. He made bank.

I don’t think that’s what I said. The fact is (part of) my tax dollars go to subsidize other people’s health care. If we are subsidizing someone’s health care then I feel that we have some right to have input into the things that people do, voluntarily, that can impact their health in a negative way.

It is not socially acceptable for teens to drink and we have many programs built around preventing teen drinking. The idea that people will just randomly choose to smoke or vape is misguided. Teens are easily influenced by their peers, by advertising, by watching what their role models and “influencers” (like parents)
