As always, I think Zack’s core criticism are accurate.

The ending—Nanette raising her eyebrows while sitting back in the Captains chair—was genuinely exhilarating. A team of office workers, lead by a fierce yet plucky coder, traveling literalized cyber space and telling gamerbros to fuck off would be my jam.

I know every Black Mirror episode has a person in a comments section somewhere going “there should be a followup/spinoff”, but, in the absence of Charlie Brooker having any ideas for a San Junipero sequel that would be good enough to merit tempting fate, what I really want to see is the continued adventures of Team

I get why people are frustrated with the show, and your review touches on some of what I consider to be the strengths and weaknesses here, but when a reviewer comes right out and says they cannot review a show on its own merits, I am forced to wonder if they’re the right person for the task.
