Regular passes and merging you can accomplish easily in a car with about 300 hp is hard in a front-engine RWD 500+ hp car. Especially in winter.

Base for base you'd need to add the luxury package to the ATS as I believe the M3 comes standard with nav and xenons. However for a backup camera and keyless Go which are likely standard in the ATS, you'd need to order the $4300 executive package in the M3. So the ATS would still undercut by about $2000.
