You don’t get to the top by caring and bleeding for your employees, instead of them bleeding for you. At best, you might get somewhat close, only to be bounced during a hostile takeover, or bought out and tossed. If somehow you do make it to the top, you won’t last very long.

American Capitalism actively rewards sociopathy, abusive practices, and the creation of serf classes.

Power Dynamics 101: if you are the CEO, or have any kind of unilateral power over someone who works for you, at no point in time is threatening to punch your employee ‘a joke’ to the employee.

It’s almost like you have to be an abusive sociopath to be a CEO in modern capitalistic societies.

This episode was so incredibly good. I had alot of misgivings when the show had announced it as the subject the week previous, and Joey did not disappoint. 

I went into this episode without knowing what was going to happen, and thought Joey sounded off at first. Didn’t know if he was just tired or high or what, but it made a ton of sense when you know that he was racked with nerves the whole time leading up to it. Joey this was a really thought provoking and good thing you did. It exposed a blindspot it turns out I had too, and I learned a lot listening to you gracefully navigate this very difficult situation.

Learning moments aren’t a bad thing. They can be uncomfortable, but sometimes people need to be told when they’re hitting a blind spot.

Definitely came as a curveball listening to the episode on my commute, but I’m glad you chose to address it live and that Heather and Nick (and Matt) were responsive and ready to engage within the confines of the format.

The article says it, but not the original film Theorists videos

I just wish it had at least one thumb stick. Everything else about the controller was perfect, but the haptic pad just doesn’t do it for me.

I'll also say this for both of the videos. Film Theorists lays out exactly how Holzhauer prepared, and the advantages it afforded him (like hownhis experience as a pro gambler paid off on daily doubles). They also laid out his weaknesses, and then gamed out the scenario it would take to actually beat Holzhauer. 

The videos actually address that, and use it as a reasoning of why Holzhauer would be removed. They were paying out a larger purse for the same level of ad buys.
