I giggle every time I see this video, because you know the pilot got a new call sign from it. Something like “Rabbi” or “Viagra”.

In the case of this plane, that’s pretty much the exact thought process. It’s one of the only aircraft in the world that can do what it does, so they can charge ridiculous sums. If you really need it, you can find a way to afford it.

You actually find that color in the cockpit of a lot of Russian aircraft, as well as some early Douglas aircraft. Studies showed that it was more mentally “relaxing” than black or dark gray and helped keep pilots awake on longer flights.

We actually used to charter these planes in my previous job to transport mobile power plants around the globe. This is a fairly short flight, but you also have to pay reposition fees. It’s going to be around $1M just for the plane. Plus whatever they had to pay a heavy transport company on either end to get to/from

This is not the greatest car in the world, it is merely a tribute!

“Do you lack a SINGLE brain cel!?”

Outstanding work! I tip my hat to you.

The answer to an automotive question is rarely ever “PT Cruiser”, but.... PT Cruiser!

Congratulations, that actually got coffee out my nose. Fantastic!

And who says you can’t have a productive discussion on the internet!

For $2k, your only “real” Jeep option is a Cherokee. Which I freely admit is a fantastic off-road vehicle. And, as relative paucity of victory  proves elsewhere in the comments, you can still pull the doors off, so you’re just losing the removable top against a Wrangler. If you’re in the market, and can find one

“Jeeps are inexpensive, capable, common, and easy to repair.” I’ll give you 2 out of 4. I’m not sure where you live, but $500 won’t get you a rusted out Jeep shell here. I just did a quick CL search, and the only Jeeps (Grand Cherokees, not even Wranglers) under $1000 had major issues, weren’t driveable and we’re

I was surfing CL yesterday looking at 1st gen cayenne’s to do just this with. The prices are silly! You can get an S with decent mileage and well taken care of for $8-9k all day long. The lowest I found was $6,500 with some minor cosmetic damage. My plan was to buy it, lift it (get rid of the wonky air suspension),

I’m flattered, but I politely decline the honor. I have no desire to see what $kay would come up with for a COTD image!

You think that’s informative, wait till I tell you about #2! Those are the kinds of adventures that give people new call signs.

I will freely admit that my initial comment was intended to be much shorter (and probably less amusing). But once I started, the memories all started coming back. I was probably laughing just as hard while I was typing. The military sucked for a lot of things, but it leaves you with some really good stories!

This is very similar to the “relief tube” setup we had on my helicopter. There, we were controlling 35 tons at 130 mph. The hardest part was actually removing your genitals from inside your flight suit. Oh, and making sure you didn’t miss the funnel and piss on the radio.

I saw that too, and my first thought was “this may be the only non-914 Porsche that could legitimately run at Lemons...”

I’m actually a little ashamed to admit how much I liked that. Thanks for sharing!

American vs Euro-spec bumpers? Kind of like this:
