Justice Scalia grew up middle class in Trenton, NJ and Queens, NYC. He went to public grade school and then to a Catholic high school on an academic scholarship—where he was the valedictorian. He also finished first in his class at Georgetown and at or near the top of his class at Harvard Law.

I’m sure Scalia, a 2nd generation Italian American growing up in Queens, totally got where he is because of vast family wealth and connections.
