“Those horsey teeth and her inelegance. What sealed the deal as the ‘94 Olympics and her feeling that she was robbed of a gold.”

pitted them against each other in very black and white stereotypes.

I was a kid too, but I was always team Tonya because I felt like the other skaters probably picked on her and I thought they were bullies to her (with no actual knowledge of the situation). It was only because I was picked on a lot too. Looking back on all of it now, it’s just a dramatic mess that I’m sure I would

100%! And as if she wasn’t badass enough, she turned her back to the judges to show them that she knew all about their racist scoring ways.

My friend took lessons with her as a kid, and she confirms Harding would do these impossible jumps without really having to practice. Her mother wore a fake fur coat that smelled like piss, and sometimes she was still drunk from the night before on the days she’d hang out and watch.

But what about Michelle Kwan tho?! I love Kristi so much too. I always liked them and Oksana and Surya way more than I liked Nancy or Tonya.

Back in the day that face must have devasted people. But when I scrolled by I snickered because it reminded me of Kim Kardashian’s cry. I have officially surrendered my soul to pop culture nonsense.

I really loved watching Tonya Harding and Surya Bonaly and Midori Ito skate because of the athleticism. They were so energetic and it seemed so passionate. Unrelated to that, once I met Tonya at my loca ice rink and she was incredibly sweet to my five year old self.

Hell yes! She landed a backflip on ice on ONE SKATE! If this weren’t a racist sport, she would have won so much shit.

I really liked Surya Bonaly, from France. She was another super-jacked badass in that cohort.

I wasn’t Team Harding but I was also never Team Kerrigan. It was the way she kept wailing “Why me? Why meeeeee?” after getting knee-capped.

My daughter took skating lessons at the East West Ice Palace in Artesia, California that has some affiliation with Michelle Kwan. I think every parent had visions of their little girl being the next Michelle Kwan at some future Olympics. Not me...I just wanted to find someplace warm every time I was there. It was

In terms of American figure skaters, absolutely. But my favorite of all-time? My girl Surya Bonaly!

Thanks Nana!

Kristi Yamaguchi > Tonya > Nancy

fingers crossed it out-Showgirls Showgirls

It could replace “The Betty Broderick Story” in my heart.

Author’s Note: If you’re wondering whether or not Jezebel will be updating you with every piece of news about I, Tonya between now and its 2018 release, please rest assured that the answer is yes.
