I absolutely agree with trying to understand others’ perspectives instead of automatically assuming people are evil or stupid or whatever. But I’ve tried to engage with Trump supporters, and I’ve seen other people try to engage with Trump supporters and the result is just “fuck you, we won, get over it.” It’s really

Trump seems to be cool with it. Apparently he thought Russia’s actions against terrorists - read, Aleppo - were just dandy. Those Russians were determined to get the terrorists, no matter how many civilians they had to shoot through.

If you looked at Trump’s blatant history of disrespect and voted for him to be President, you are a bad person. Sorry, no amount of being polite is going to make up for the fact that you were okay with hatred.

I said goddamn!

Tell you what... You want to go share an open ear with these folks, go start reading the FB comments on AL.com. Enjoy.

It’s not that all trump voters were racist, sexist, islamaphobic, xenophobic, etc. It’s that they felt ok with voting for a candidate who was blatantly all of these things and more, their vote had actively hurt people and they can’t ignore that. They need to take ownership of what they did and I’m not interested in

Obama didn’t bring much hope and change once in office

I listen very hard. In fact, I listen so well that I tried to tell everyone eight months ago that Trump was going to win. I tried working with my DNC chapter to get strategy info all the way up to the top, even singling out several counties in Michigan and Wisconsin that desperately needed attention from HRC...but

We already know Trump voters are tolerant of bombing and torturing innocents, so your false equivalence is... well false.

I like the cartoon. I always wondered if Trump always, “Tells it like it is.” Why must so many of his supporters come to his defence with, “I know what he said, but that’s not what he meant.” I believe that’s the actual definition of delusion, holding that two completely contradictory facts are true.

What really makes me literally laugh is all the people on Twitter, tweeting to Trump, “Don’t make me regret voting for you!” Or what??? You’ll rescind your approval? HE DOESN’T GIVE A SHIT.

Did Clinton voters signal they are okay with bombing innocent people?

That’s apples to oranges, frankly. Neither Obama nor Clinton actively campaigned on policy platforms that explicitly included bombing innocent people. Their foreign relations policies have the inherent danger that drone bombings in the “war on terror” have grave consequences for the people and places. Clinton was

Huh? They’re xenophobic garbage or people who put their economic well-being ahead of other people’s human rights. What’s the big fucking mystery?

I’m not running for political office, and neither is Du Varney. If someone has enough good in their hearts to want to try to improve the lives of these assholes in political office, they can go around pretending to engage with their racist bullshit to get their vote. The rest of us should not pretend like assholes

I think that it’s important to recognize that, as a nation built on racism and having perpetuated racist institutions and policies over the course of its history, there is a high probability that we’re all racist.

It’s incredibly difficult to continue to try to ‘understand the perspective of others’ when they continuously vote against your best interest, work to systemically dismantle or diminish your rights, and have shown no interest in understanding the perspective of the minority at all.

Go away, Troll

Okay I just checked Cook4rce’s comment history and they’re definitely a troll.

We understand their perspective! Quit using that tired, broken cliche.
