My personal experience has been that since the pandemic, drivers have gotten faster and more aggressive in general. LE has only started to try to catch up but just a tiny amount. I never cared if someone went 5-7 mph faster than posted speed limits, but I’m routinely seeing people going 15 -25 mph over the speed

It’s always easy to justify taxes/fines against wrong doers.

The hard part about having real inspections in the US is that we have a car focused infrastructure that makes distances between everything large, pedestrian/cycling an afterthought, public transit woefully neglected, and living without a car nearly impossible anywhere besides the North Atlantic cities. Inspections

This guy is an attention-grabbing idiot.

I live in a city which is covered by cameras. There are still some drivers who cover up their plates and they are always the most aggressive and disrespectful on the road. If they get busted then I’d be happy. I’m not sure it’s some guys job to do that, but if I had to choose a side to back it would be the narc this

Hyundai Theta engine has entered the chat...

How many decades has there been DWI education and outreach? People have been talking about the dangers of distracted driving due to cell phones for probably 20 years now.

I have been screaming this forever. Plus we think we have problems with pedestrian and bike deaths now, add another 3,000 pounds to the curb weight and no one has a chance. Plus the idiots driving these will be killing drastically higher numbers of people in reasonably-sized cars.

I’m reaching way back here, but I actually remember a post in the same vein specifically about Kia dealers not knowing how to sell the Stinger because it was... good. If I’m not mistaken, there was a story about the dealer refusing cash in favor of bad financing.

Just an attempted ripoff. Took one of my Volvo 740s to Sears for a state inspection. The tech failed it for “bad tie rod ends” - except they were about a month old, and genuine Volvo parts, installed by me. Quoted me $600 - which would have been a total ripoff if I had paid it. A buddy of mine is a state cop - in

The “hold me over” car is great advice....but if the hold me over lease is going to cost you more in the short term than buying the car and selling it, that doesn’t make sense.  And the purchase gives you more flexiblity for the “hold me over” idea. Want to trade in a year or two, fine....market still sucks in 3

You’re all wrong!  What is need is a Honda Fit... which has a good shifter, forgiving clutch and not too much power.  Having a vehicle with lots of power can actually make it harder to learn stick in my view.

1st Gear: Is it stupid of me to prefer giving price hikes directly to the manufacturer vs. the price hikes we’re currently paying to dealers? At least if Toyota is charging more, it’ll partially go back into the R&D of their vehicles and not just go to padding the wallets of dealerships.

We’ve been going to the same Subaru dealer for decades. On two separate occasions we’ve had the sales guy say something to the affect of “it’s just a car, no reason to bury yourself in debt.  I’ll sell it to you if you really want it, but I won’t feel right about it”.

If these are built in a GM plant my interest in them will rapidly cool, then freeze over.

Wow. You have just ruled out pretty much all cars aside from BMW, Mercedes , Audi and domestic full sized pickups.

That unveiling presentation was torture. I’ve been to many auto show press events, but this one was painful to watch. With each description of an engineering marvel (and there are many marvels in this vehicle), the rational consumer in me saw the MSRP rise from $60K, to $70, to $80K and beyond.

My husband and I were on Maui last month and on O’ahu earlier in the year. Both times we went, we rented a car for the entire week of our stay. We had no problems. We did reserve the car as soon as we booked our flights and accommodation. For our trip to Maui, when we first booked the prices were outrageous, but

did the jingle start out with the number 1-877?

There’s now the Bronco Sport which many people claim is an Escape cosplaying as a Bronco.
