Bungie was the cheapest third-party publisher, and Sony needed something to counter the Bethesda/Acti-Bliz buyouts, as well as to keep from getting completely shut out in a rapidly consolidating market. Nothing more than keeping the door from shutting in your face.

I’m still at a loss how the law can stand - literally. There’s a concept in legal terms called “Standing” - basically, the bringer of the suit (since it’s not a criminal case, instead a civil one) typically must show that they are an aggrieved party to the action - in essence, the defendants action (or inaction)

If Fortnite can do it (which it does, including at the start of a season when player levels get reset - so even experienced players get paired with bots again every so often for a short bit), as arguably the biggest and currently most influential BR around, then Naraka Bladepoint can do it too.

Yeah but have there been any reports this week? Oh. Today?... Well, in the past half hour then? See, we’ve changed.

Considering that you defend Scott Cawthorne I think we already know what your answer is...

This is a nice longform article in the vein of Jason’s Schreier’s reporting of behind-the-scenes game development. Glad to see this article type again. Great job!

game sites being nothing but promotions for new games: bad

“Man, this clothing store’s sign is really cool.”
“I suppose a nude portrait of Ross Perot can technically be a store sign...”
“Hey man, that portrait didn’t paint itself! That took skill!”
“That’s not... really what I’m getting at, but okay...”

“stop the gatekeeping and negativity” as a defense of predatory gambling shit in games. guess it was just a matter of time til some kids who just grew up with this shit think of it as normal and bend backwards to defend it with social justice language lol.  you know there’s a more dignified way to live than doing the

I dunno man the state of the mobile market is not really the hill to die on.

Sorry gacha deserves to get shit on, its a blight upon mankind. Your friends that enjoy them could enjoy the exact same games without being monetized out of every available orifice.

Yeah she may as well be naked and all the guys will still be like “Wow, she looks so well designed and i dont know what it is about her but she just seems really smart and funny and cool. A+ Design.”

But where’s the lie?

Yeah... no. That is ABSOLUTELY what mobile games are now and have been for years, the exact by the numbers framework to milk as much money from “whales” as possible. You MIGHT get a lucky gem every now and then or an Apple Arcade offer (or Googles laughable attempt to copy it) but those are the exception, not the

It’s always been an issue, it’s just coming to the limelight on the Switch because it’s hitting a lot sooner than normal and the cost to repair and replace is pretty steep.

I mean, that's what I assumed, DVDs and VCRs. No one owns 600 blu-rays, the vast majority of movies don't even have a blu-ray. Blu-rays time in the spotlight was relatively brief between DVDs and streaming services.

Doesn't read that way to me. Reads like writing OP's two favorite FF games are hits, and Remake and FF X-2.5 are misses.

Wait, are you putting Remake in the “miss” category??  That’s quite a take.

I don’t see how this move can hurt the consumers. As noted in this article there won’t be any upcharge to use this service at first and it is likely to fail before it really takes off. So the most likely thing to happen is millions get a few free crappy games for a few months and then Netflix goes back to normal.

This is a terrible take. So many assumptions, no valid reason to limit other people's enjoyment.
