I know this is how things are now but I refuse to be okay with a 13 grand selling price for something that is basically made out of 20 or 30 aluminum cans if you crushed it. You could probably get three Eos' for this price! I hate to say that about one of the most iconic cars of my childhood.

I own an 04 sedan and this is basically what I want. It's also overpriced by a good bit. High four figures and this is a no brainer nice price. They are great cars if you are minimally willing to wrench.

We have one, 2011 AMG package, a little more equipment. It’s (mostly) great, but does need some work on the air suspension, and the low-profile tires are not pothole friendly. Still, an amazing car if you’re willing to work on it yourself. Paying others to do so will quickly bankrupt you.

But then you have to admit to being a BMW owner and driver...

This is awesome, especially with the more powerful straight six. Absolutely immaculate!

Yeah but fundamentally different cars. Our S212 with 145k miles is Rock solid, but it was heavily optioned and enthusiast owned like this. I love ours but do wish it had fewer electronics. It works perfectly 90% of the time, but the other 10 is perplexing to track down without MB scan tools and a lot of time. That

Yep, a stage 0 or 1 tune wakes ‘em up. Saab detuned it on 1st and 2nd because everyone in the auto press complained about torque steer on the OG. I have the base model with the little turbo and it still moves pretty good, albeit a little bit wheezy above 4K.

Best thing ever. Especially if you get one with convection. No reason to heat up everything for a small job. Also can replace a microwave if you don’t want to have one of those.

2012 is DI engine. A little more of a pain to work on, but yes, S212s are super reliable. We love ours. They don’t depreciate like the sedans, so yes, more $$$. We have the pre-DI engine and it’s still reasonably fast. Handling is great for a car that big, too.

Watching the pit stop of Villeneuve is just....wow. 20 secs is a great stop. Even in the 90s that was a dog.

As the owner of an only mildly decrepit 04' NG 9-3, do it. Saabs are fun. Apparently so fun that the PO scraped it on a wall. Otherwise the car is pretty much like new for a 15 y/o car with 100k on it. It’s the base model, and still pretty fun to hoon with the 180 horse turbo.

I’m surprised that no one has pointed out the gearing. While it’s a pretty sweet clutch and shift, the gearing is super low (numerically high) if it’s like the usual Civics of that era. You’re going 80 on the highway, this thing’s turning almost 4k rpm. Sounds awful even with the stock exhaust.

My 9-3 has been fine and is easy to wrench on. The V6 is less so, but is faaaast.

And just for perspective, those are still cheaper than jack covers for a Mercedes with the sport package. Stupid designs on both ends, but...

This guy knows. He knows.

Of all things to hate here, the seats aren’t it. I had an 85 FWB d’Elegance that was my grandparents. Same seats as this, but red velour. They are fantastic for what they are. And, true story, the FWB had front and rear anti-roll bars...float, yes, but it stayed a lot flatter than a comparable Caprice, etc.

IDK but in the Deep South, that sticky velour wouldn’t be great. I have so many bad memories of it from 80's GM stuff...

I bought a NG Saab 9-3 last year for similar reasons. I’ll drive it the next few years (it’s just barely over 100k now) and then turn it over to son #1. Yeah, it’s a turbo (so he might get in trouble), but it’s a poverty spec and is one of the safest cars on the road 16 years after it was built. Great first car. Much

Ooooh I’m conflicted on this. We have an Odyssey with over 200k on the clock.

NOT SO FAST. Actually have done this on both windows on my 03 Odyssey (which refuses to die, and so therefore we supplemented with a...wait for it...used MB wagon).

But yeah, not my favorite job.
