If you are concerned with the cost, wait about a week and the next Discount Campaign will start up - http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/campaign/discount/index.html meaning you can go buy the Ultimate Collection registration codes for $9.99 (also first 30 days sub). The actual game install is always available for

I would say that it’s less Japanese and not, and more what games they’re taking influence from. FFXI was largely patterned after Everquest, where XIV ARR takes far more from WoW, Guild Wars 2, and similar era games.

Technically not the first story content they’ve added since RoV wrapped up. Notably, there was a quest series added when they implemented Siren as a summonable avatar. That said, RoV was originally set to be the finale, with the game only getting maintenance and bugfixes going foward. Instead, they’ve ended up adding

Config->Misc 2->Background Aspect Ratio to fix the stretched out look.

Far as I’d seen that’s still the same disc, just in a fancier box. Is there confirmation otherwise?

Keep in mind that, among other caveats, system requirements are often stated before a game even comes out, and not necessarily updated afterwards.

I’d say that the first game does “reward” non-lethal play in the sense that low chaos led to better endings and all that. Though, I’d agree, going that route really limits what you can use.

The parasite stuff in MGSV could be easily spun into a zombie-ish story. Non Skull units pretty much turned into ‘em anyway. They could also use it as a way to explain why Mother Base soldiers are found wandering around almost 10 years after it was destroyed.

I also started on Pandemonium, way back when, later forcibly moved to Asura in one of the server merges. My account (later accounts) have mostly been active from NA PC release until just recently (and I may still go back). FFXI is largely not -as- hard these days, but a lot of the core differences between it and

I didn’t mean to imply that it was. I was referring back to what you had quoted. Seems to me like the director is trying to dismiss feedback in general as “FF sickness”.

True, the XV main characters may be tailored more for a female audience or something.

It’s not exactly the same, but Console Wars is similar enough if you haven’t read that. Basically a book about Tom Kalinske’s tenure at Sega of America, focusing on retail and marketing in the 16-bit era.

Kind of depends on what they mean. I doubt it’d take ~1440 hours played to do that. It’s a lot of content, sure, but most of it was designed for lower level caps, and current XI has a lot of fast travel options and other conveniences relative to years ago.

Well, it also says my i7-3770k isn’t good enough, despite that it’s a more powerful CPU than the i5 they spec.

It’s being redone from the ground up in a form that works for mobile, not simply ported. “will aim to transform into a completely new format on the mobile environment” in SE’s words. If you’re at all familiar with the game, you know it’d be very impractical to try and play as-is on a touch device, nevermind market to

Most XI players aren’t exactly optimistic about it either, but the point is more that it’s being remade, despite insistence that MMOs don’t get remade.

FFXI -is- getting remade. That much was announced months ago. It’s coming for mobile platforms next year, in a partnership with Nexon. Most likely, it’ll wind up being a fairly dramatic retooling of the IP, but that’s what would have made it an interesting thing to see demonstrated.

They're also working on porting it to mobile platforms (well, outsourced). Plus a spinoff game Final Fantasy Grandmasters. In addition to wrapping up new content for the game in 2015, which someone else already mentioned.

We're not sure what the special occasion is, but there are a ton of Studio Ghibli Blu-rays down to $20 right now.

One can buy all the stuff in the bundle for less than that, actually, provided they're fine with refurbished stuff.
