I was/am pessimestic about the panda people because they are silly. The companion pet you can buy is silly. And there's guaranteed to be about a dozen silly, over the top quests making fun of panda people. It's Blizzard, and it's what they do.

Considering the panda pet that's already in the game, I'm expecting dungeon groups of 4 pandas going "YA, HIII-YA, ooOOH-AH, HIII-YA" for every trash pull and 5 minute boss fight.

sounds sorta kinda like the drive used in Song of Distant Earth by Clarke. I don't remember his description of the ship's engine or if it was described at all, but at the end they had to point the ship slightly askew to keep from frying/blinding the colonized planet it was leaving.

I was thinking about that when I saw this on IO9. It's a terrible loss, and probably nothing good will ever come of it. But what happens if she turns her life around, starts a clinic to help other people with addiction. Even the worst loss can be good and sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before change can happen…

I actually feel pity for her. Maybe the realization that she destroyed something older than Jesus will force her to get the help she needs.

The problem is that there's no filter on the news that differentiates between hysterical claim that sells newspapers (if it bleeds, it leads), vs a legitimate science article that says there's a possibility that something may happen.
