I agree. Del Toro has put out high quality work for many years, and TSoW is a fantastic film. I think the award was well deserved, and if Jordan Peele isn’t back then its because we are all actually living in the literal Hell and we weren’t going to have nice things anyway.

I’m also wondering about the label. “White saviors” are supposed to be white people who ride to the save the day for POC. It’s supposed to be when POC are shown as helpless or meek until the white dude shows up and saves everything with his whiteness.

I feel like this list doesn’t know what a white savior is though. A white savior is a white person who rides to the defense of non-white people from some (generally also non-white) evil bad guys.

I’m sort of wondering if your not the one confused? Damon, in the movies listed, isn’t the savior because of his whiteness. Most of them avoid race altogether.
