Actually, the Martians in the book do the same thing. Found book to be very creepy indeed. Loved the Tom Cruise version. Though, Well's original is still superior. Can't wait for this series. Hope they get it right.

Agreed. The book contains so much more. Hell of lot missing from every screen version, even in the Jeff Wayne's musical version. I found the book to be creepy as hell in parts. Nothing compares to H,G Wells original story. The Martians even have flying machines last off. Oh, it needs remaking, that's for sure. Why not…
