“What two of the world’s top drivers were doing at a Taco Bell is unclear.”

At least there’ll be a place to put the bodies if it does.

All it’s missing are chrome wheel arches and an “I’m spending my kid’s inheritance” license plate and my grandpa is all in.

Seriously? You think Smart cars and Minis “aren’t shit”?

Guy loves the Toyota engine that went over 200k miles and doesn’t mind that the electricals have mostly failed? Boy, do I have a car for you...

up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, cruise on, cruise off, start.

Nebraska. Most definitely Nebraska. Hours upon hours of fields and telephone poles.

Autonomous cars use cameras as well as radar, laser, etc. My point was that the technology is not prohibitively expensive to replace, certainly not enough to total a car if a sensor goes out.

If the Super Cruise on the Cadillac works out, you’ll see it trickle down to everything else in a few years.

Those angles and creases might not be boring, but they sure are fugly.

How so? I’m in sales and work on commission. If I can make calls and answer emails on my way to work, it results in more money for me.

You should look at the Bolt. It’s pretty awesome.

Unless you work at a dealership :)

I actually do think cameras and sensors will be cheap to replace. You can get an entire sensor kit for $100 and OEM cameras (which I haven’t seen go bad on a car yet) are about the same price. Tech is cheap, no moving parts and built with low-cost labor. A camera is a camera, it doesn’t need to be anything special

I guess that statement stems from my discussion with a GM engineer who was driving a Bolt. According to him, that car needs minimal maintenance; just tires and wipers and cabin filters. He claims that the brakes should last 100k miles due to the aggressive regenerative function of the car, and the batteries should

Fully autonomous and fully electric vehicles may carry a premium, but things I would consider when factoring in the “extra” cost of these technologies:

Turbo wagon for $2k? NP all day.
