There are people out there who legitimately believe there's a connection between Fringe and the Half-Life/Portal universe. For example, The Observers are very similar to the G-man from Half-Life.

I hope by "the less-fondly-remembered seasons 3-5" you're excluding season four. If you maintain that season four is less-fondly-remembered, take it back now, you silly, silly man.

He made some weird, unnatural guttural sound before he injected himself (or at least appeared like he did), so maybe he knows some crazy voodoo trick that kept the sedative from being effective.

I, for one, enjoyed this week's episode. I watch Dexter for the batshit-crazy plot twists, not to nitpick at shit. The rest of this season has sucked, as did last season, but at least last night's episode was the same kind of entertaining as the first and fourth seasons.

Having already seen next week's episode, well, you might be on to something.
