The sanctions are working. That’s obviously why Putin has withdrawn overt support for the rebels and is essentially freezing the Ukrainian conflict.

The separatists can push for whatever they want to. Moscow isn’t backing them. Given that the eastern areas are wholly dependent on Russian aide to avoid a total economic catastrophe, the separatists aren’t really in any position to act unilaterally.

Does Putin still pay by the word?
