One of Fred “The Slacktivist” Clark’s mottos is, “If a headline starts with ‘Youth Pastor...’, nothing good is ever going to come after.”

White American Evangelical Christianity is not the whole history of Christianity. It’s not even the whole present, though it sure is loud and influential.

I really am extremely upset at reality for consistently ruining the mental associations I’d prefer to have with the words “sex cult”

This doesn’t sound like something professional police would do, but then, the professional police I mostly hear about don’t have a Bond villain trying to destroy their country, so... whatever, this is reality now I guess.

I’m not sure anyone is jumping to the conclusion that all 1500 children have been sold to the salt mines. The problem is we don’t know *what* has happened to them, and - this being the kicker - neither do many of their parents.

Not getting shit on by cops is a human right, not a privilege.

The Old Testament also has a lot to say about the treatment of strangers and what happens to those who abuse the poor.

The problem is, and I don’t mean this dismissively, is why would you expect people to “reach out” to someone whose dysfunction makes them a raging, dangerous asshole? It’s an incredibly difficult “condition” to treat, and requires a very carefully trained, highly-professional response. It’s not something that ordinary

Why is it so badly-written? If it weren’t for the very good reasons to suspect skulduggery, my first impression would be that the changes just seem to be trying to fix *extremely bad* sentence construction.

Well, one way is to make it so that sex workers have the full, unprejudiced protection of the law. (This means that availing themselves of the protection of the law cannot endanger their livelihood, tenure place of residence and work, etc. etc.)

Just because there’s no economic model for a declining population doesn’t mean starvation is inevitable. We could create new economic models, especially given advancing technology. Hell we could probably create new economic models *of capitalism* that would work with a stable population.

Not just that, but all different sorts of humans have been modifying the environment in disruptive ways for tens of thousands of years, including driving megafauna to extinction and introducing rats and pigs to new environments where they run rampant.

meanwhile, reselling flipped assets, stolen assets, and non - functional games without executable files is fine.

“I hate Aliens *except* for Bill Paxton” is certainly an opinion demonstrating what a wonderful, diverse spectrum of difference our fellow humans are.

That’s not meant as a smarmy insult, btw. I liked Prometheus, soo...

omg finally someone to join my Prometheus kinda-a-fan club, I was all alone in this warehouse with the lights turned off.

It makes a certain (psychedelic) sense... if you realize it’s being written as a critique of the Roman Empire in the early Common Era, and referring to communities and events in existence at that time.

It’s only choo-choo bananas because people insist that they are the Special Generation that Bible “prophecy” is

You’ve *alllllmost* gotten the joke.

Hint: What is a lot of hip-hop about? What do Very Serious Cultural Commentators think all hip-hop is about?

“Building up. DC, however, is constrained by a law states no building will exceed the height of the Washington Monument.”

Oh my god, that’s unreal.

indicted but had his convictions vacated.
