Man for $32K I’d be looking at S2000s without a 2nd thought. Get a hardtop if you need it. This is just going to depreciate significantly. If these were selling at $25K, it would give people a reason to be interested in them again.

I absolutely love these! I’ve seen a few S2Ks with these wheels and they look fantastic!
I’m desperately hoping that by the time my typical driving is not consumed by terrible traffic, I can find a clean used six-speed. The TSX is one smooth classy ride.
Not exactly the be all end all in terms of reliability though, otherwise I could really get behind a GTI. I suppose if the owner doesn’t plan to keep it for much time beyond warranty then that’s somewhat irrelevant.
Here’s to hoping the wheels are what will actually come on the car from the factory, and that the previous rumors are wrong, and it’s a gas engine only!
The best part was him accidentally shifting into reverse repetitively and running into Hammond and Clarkson. I can imagine accidentally selecting the wrong gear on a hill with a car behind me. I’d be pissed.
I remember idolizing this guy growing up. I know he had a little girl too. My prayers are with his family. I can’t begin to imagine how hard it must be for them.
I’m now very excited to see what kind of work is involved in restoring this car. As you said, they seem to be increasingly desirable, and if you’re able to turn it into something running and presentable I’m sure you’ll be fielding a lot of offers.
Yeah, like Doug said, what the heck else does this guy have sitting on his estate? Why buy fairly common import models for a collection? I can’t imagine that’s a typical car collector strategy. Now if he happened to have a silver R32 GT-R with gunmetal R34 wheels he might be forgiven for trading in a low mileage STI…
Just as a counterpoint to thedevilinside, I had a friend who test drove both the fiesta and ms3, and he picked the ms3. he tuned it as well, and seemed to really enjoy it. he eventually sold it and bought an Acura TL for something more comfortable and less expensive, but he really liked it.
I had a beautiful 1995 white integra LS five speed and bought it from the original owner with less than 100,000 miles. I ended up getting an opportunity to buy a similarly mint DC5 and ended up getting rid of it. I hope the new owner appreciates how rare that thing was.
I’ve heard the Toyota MR2s from the early 90s were known to rotate more than expected resulting in high insurance premiums. I think around 1993, Toyota made some suspension mods and made it less tail happy, but I would imagine most people not used to driving mid-engined rwd cars would have trouble driving at the limit.
The worst thing is even if you recommend a generally reliable car you still have to explain that not every Toyota Camry/Honda Accord or Civic is bulletproof reliable (assuming they’re buying it used). I try to emphasize that being patient and waiting to find a vehicle with evidence of regular maintenance may be as…
I have an 02 RSX now but dearly miss my 95 integra coupe (LS not GSR sadly), but still very reliable, lightweight, and indeed got exceptional gas mileage
Maybe this will finally stop people from invading Portland! Indeed there are some crazies who have nothing better to do with their lives, meanwhile the rest of us living there are dealing with a skyrocketing cost of living because of the thousands of people who don’t seem to care it’s weird.
I live in Portland, and this is totally believable and humorous in my opinion. The majority of the VWs I see in Portland are either GTIs or diesels, very few have the old five-cylinder.
It would be super disappointing if Toyota didn’t bring us a new Supra. However, there were rumors it would be a hybrid, and I just don’t see myself picking a hybrid sports car over something else. I guess we’ll just be left to wait and see. I wouldn’t mind seeing a new Z4 either.
Any chance we could see the dyno graph or learn the torque figure? It’s crazy to think about a car in 1989 putting out that much power from 2.6 liter engine. Impressive stuff for sure
