IMO “grunt” is not HP, it’s torque. The new 3.5 Taco V6 makes 278hp and 265 (or thereabouts) ft, lbs. The problem is that it comes on so high in the rpm range that it’s not very useable. Torque peak is like 4300rpm, hp peak is even higher. Less than ideal for a “truck” engine. A 200hp V8 that makes 300 Ft Lbs under 3k

Hockey games are also best in-person.

Is the incessant engineering for MORE POWER EVERY YEAR going to taper off, or are we going to get a 1,000 horsepower 911 in a few years?

The key thing about Jeopardy! clues is that they are written AS clues, not with the intent to stump everyone. So as long as you read the clue, it’s less about trivial knowledge and more about quickness of recall.

Getting a serious job at an heavy hitting investment bank involves being smart as hell, having MBA from really good school and a basically perfect GPA, and it helps to know someone. Source... read alot of books about Wall Street.

I’ve bought two cars from Carmax and would have bought my last one there if buying a new one hadn’t been straight up cheaper.

About the CarMax thing. I had a change in life circumstances a while back and needed to get a little econo-can because driving a couple of thousand miles a month in a Jeep Wrangler was not an enticing proposition from a fuel consumption or comfort perspective. I did all kinds of searching around for something that

The amazing new development would be a battery with significant boost in life.

How dare deadspin publish a post by Mr. Petchesky, with his slavic sounding name, on this, the 5th anniversary of the Ljubljana Marshes hot air balloon crash in Slovenia. I am aghast at the insensitivity.

Right? All of his best memories of this beast are from his purchase over fifteen years ago! And now he’s suffered from a heart attack and will likely never know the glory of a smoky burnout and “70's police chase” style shenanigans!!!

If I bought it I’d lay rubber from his driveway until he couldn’t see any farther. But then again it’s a Ford so I’d make it about 15 feet, especially witting with original(?) fluids in it all these years.

Sad. That was my only thought as well. I don’t know why these cars were made, but my belief is that their entire purpose in life was to be enjoyed - hard and fast as that little V8 would allow while swaddled in semi-luxury. I feel sad for the car, sitting under that cover all those years, a life unfulfilled.

This. They would have been so much better just parking the money in a mutual fund or something.

I read this and just feel sad. He’s had this for all those years, didn’t enjoy it out on the road at all (not even one smoky burnout?!) and now he’s trying to dump it for what amounts to a loss (assuming he insured it during those years, not to mention the lost earning potential). Too bad. Hopefully it goes to

i will never understand people that buy cars to not drive them..... theres only so much looking at a car i can do before i get bored.. i’ll never get bored of driving them (well... some cars i might...)

H-D is basically selling mid-life crisis starter kits

This is all shorthand for “baby boomers are dying what the hell do we do now”

As an almost millennial that is closing in on the big 4-0, I can say with confidence that Harley-Davidson bikes and the whole “culture” that surround it never did and will never be appealing to me.

l’d like to hear more about the meatloaf before making my final decision.
