@ackthbbft: Good Idea, piss her off by pushing her and hope it results in a rare medical condition that makes her have no further need for you. You can't lose.

@Unionhawk: Food banks often have trouble moving fresh produce fast enough, often to the point where they won't accept a lot of it. It will help to plan ahead. Contact them, and ask what, if any they will take. Some places have very strict rules on anything home canned, so fresh or dried will work better for you.
@Pitchswitch: My iPod is jailbroken so I can just view the iPod as a removable drive and drag and drop to the media/books folder.
@robelirobban: Thank you for clarifying, I think we may agree more than either of us realized. I don't mean to imply that Atheists are "Scum" as you say, but rather there are a lot of people who misuse the term, calling themselves atheists as a means of excusing their own ignorance about religion. Clearly not all…
@djert: What's nice about ePub is the inclusion (and more importantly, automatic discovery of) meta data. That means, you will see the book cover, can search your library by author, genre, publication year, subject etc, much the way you would sort an MP3 library. PDF attempts to do this, but if the original author…
Good article, I've been using Calibre for a while now to convert pdfs to ePub for reading on my iPod Touch (via the Stanza App). It does butcher graphic print pdfs from time to time, but it's overall the best tool I've found for the job.
Whether or not we find religion to have merit as a moral guide, I think we can all agree it is deeply rooted in nearly every culture. The stories they tell are compelling, and without an understanding of the significance, those stories would be meaningless. That context lends to the quality of games, and should be…
Vote: Regedit For the Win.
@diamonddnice: I agree, this is only really applicable to a few uncommon scenarios. Chain latches are usually found on exterior doors. The motives for breaking an exterior door are usually to rob the place, in which case it will be evident someone was there anyway (your stuff is missing, you'll notice), or to do…
My only issue in connecting it to XP and Linux systems (and my HTPC). They butchered samba support in favor of their half-assed HomeGroups and media streaming. The network settings needed to correct the issue are scattered throughout the control panel, and in many cases, obscure registry entries are needed. MS…
Nice to See media Companion getting the love it deserves, Just wish the author would opensource it for us to tinker with.
@AmphetamineCrown: A properly sharpened slicing knife has an edge that is one molecule thick, sharper than a razor. That makes for a pretty thin piece of metal that will, when rested on it's edge quickly dull on most hard surfaces, wood included. The fine edge also makes it much more likely to corrode, though the…
I much prefer the magnetic knife racks, and those are also well within the common DIYer's skill set. Just mount a few high strength magnets to the wall, cover with felt or suede, and stick the knife to it.
Off-topic, but this is the best place I can think of to post:
@The5thElephant: Yes, I understand the difference, I worked for 5 years as a network engineer. 15Mbps = 1.875MBps, and average speeds over such a connection are actually only about 65% of that max, so 1.2-1.3MBps would be correct. But you are right to point out that difference, as I've seen people make similar…
@rewards: What would be the point of the articles here if they didn't create a discussion?
I'd forward this article to people in the office, if only to test the theory that the gain in productivity will be inversely proportionate to the bust size of my receptionist. A two minute break for jumping-jacks, and a 3 hour break to consult with my attorney on the impending harassment lawsuit.
