I quite like Nova. I don’t do any really crazy theming stuff (thought I do have an icon pack), but it gives me tabs and folders for my app drawer, lets me arrange my home screens however, allows gestures, I like it.

Holy crap that 2.5 year old did not even flinch.

We do a “poor man’s mimosa” involving Fresca or Squirt and cheap sparkling wine. I’d try beer in that instead.

I got to hear about it second-hand when my sister-in-law lost her wedding ring. Panic, frantic searching of the house, crying, more frantic searching. And the eventual hilarity of finding out it got stuck in her bra.

Lockjaw looks great! The rest looks ... eehhhhh. SHIELD is one of my favorite shows right now, so we disagree there, but Inhumans looks mediocre at best. With a dash of too much Ramsay Bolton, and a Medusa wig that I can only hope is canonically a bad wig that she’s wearing to cover up her ridonkulous hair powers. Or

I was a kid! I don’t have any neat stories, really, but I literally grew up with them. For the first couple of them, me and my mom would sit and read together. At some point, I took off on my own with them. The last one came out after my first year of college, and I’ve only read it the once (I’ve read the earlier ones

Yeah, the controllers have really great battery life. I figure, as long as I occasionally hook them up to the docked console when I’m not playing, I’ll never be playing long enough in one sitting (or even a few sittings) to worry about them. This seems very unnecessary.

I couldn’t get it to communicate with Amazon! I found an old version of Kindle that was supposedly optimized for the eink screen on the Nook Simple Touch, but I could never get it working and then I got mad and bought a Kindle.

Now playing

So, I love Metric, and I loved Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. I didn’t realize until long after I saw the movie that Black Sheep, Envy’s song in the movie, was actually a Metric song. I like Emily Haines singing it better than Brie Larson, but here’s both :)

Lol, I’m just crap year round. I live in Kansas, so I get a total of maybe 8-10 weeks of halfway decent weather per year. The sunlight is good for me — I get kinda crushed by SAD, the dark kills me, but the cold and snow is mostly fine. All the sunlight this time of year is great (mostly, I’ve been having a buttload

I initially bought my Nook because they don’t use a proprietary format, they use epub, and have no issue with sideloading books. My Nook is now very old — I recently tried to root it to load up my Kindle app, and the software was too old for any recent apps. I’ve now upgraded to a Kindle anyway, as I’ve now bought

Well I don’t know where we’re going, probably somewhere smaller, but who knows if it’ll be a popular spot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ok, I’ll bite. Why’s that?

I’m in the Kansas City area, and we’ve been psyched for awhile that we’ll have a front row seat. We’ll probably take the day off, and see about finding a good park to have a picnic.

As far as garnishing non-cocktail beverages, I will always take a lime wedge in my coke, please. It’s only just recently occurred to me that I could buy limes expressly for this purpose, and not just steal leftover lime slices from other things.

I also thought that was very powerful and well done.

A couple of months ago, as the weather warmed up, we noticed swarming termites by our garage. Dudes came, inspected, said it was cool, they’re only under the stoop, no noticeable wood damage, $1600 please and thank you, and now we’re covered for like 15 years with some nice poisonous foam injected under the foundation.

Choco Tacos are inexplicably delightful. There were these ice cream sandwiches I used to get at the swimming pool concession that was frozen yogurt between 2 chocolate chip cookies, and it was either that or a choco taco and now I want either one, who’s gonna bring me ice cream?

I’m sorry to tell you, but you’re never gonna crisp up that fat in a sous vide. I’m sure you can do bacon, but it’s gonna be floppy unless you also fry it. Which won’t take long compared to normally doing bacon on the stove, but I’m not sure the payoff is worth the time here.

I looked it up, and it does sound like it’s an option for DMs who want to up the stakes; all it does it turn the standard death save (from bleeding out) from 10 up to 15. So if you go down, you’re more likely to die from it, should you choose to play in meatgrinder mode.
