I own both, and I adore the Metro (and bought a second) while the Lamy has drifted off to my desk drawer somewhere. I might have gotten a bad nib on the Lamy, I’ve heard they have worse quality control on their nibs, but the Lamy was scratchy and skipped a lot. Both of my Metros, both medium and fine, are buttery

I’m closing on a house on Monday, and during the inspection, the inspector ran the dishwasher. It was SO QUIET I kept forgetting it was on. Fucking magical. I’m so psyched. (I’m used to a very loud dishwasher. Add to that a 4 month old gas range after 3 years of terrible apartment stoves and I’m gonna be in appliance

I’m happy to wait, too! I’m always seeing people shouting about Kickstarter being a scam, but ... guys, it’s exactly what it claims to be. If you back obviously ill-thought-out or scammy products, it’s a good way to get scammed. If you have reasonable expectations and don’t mind waiting, it’s a fun way to help

Seriously.

I can’t believe the level of pure, unbridled rage that’s been going on in the comments of this Kickstarter. Kickstarters are a gamble, people! Sometimes things go wrong or take longer than they say! Actually, I’ve backed a lot of Kickstarters, and it’s a rare (and usually veteran) project that ships on time.

I want this to be real. I would buy it immediately.

I believe what is actually the case here is that the material added to steel to make it stainless (chromium) also makes it softer. Good knives have less chromium, more carbon, which makes them harder and better for holding an edge, but more prone to rusting. I think that’s right, but I’m going by memory of a subject I

Hey, cool, thanks for the response! Unfortunately, I checked, and none of my suspect products have any glycols on the label. The funny thing is, the lube that has been the absolute worst for me is one of those fancy supposed to be great for women’s bodies lubes, Pink’s water based. Guess I should just request free

I have really, really sensitive skin (I’ve been having a horrible flare up of contact dermatitis on my hands I’ve been trying to track down. I _really_ wish I knew what I was allergic to, but it’s probably just random fragrance chemicals. I have a suspicion I’ve developed a sensitivity to something in my conditioner)

I definitely expected it’d vary between dogs. There are always breed tendencies, but never breed guarantees. :) I’m closing on a house in a few weeks, and it has plenty of yard for zooming around in. A fenced yard for a dog was one of our must haves!

Somebody around here recommended the Boomerang tags, and since I’ve been obsessing over getting a dog for the past year or so, I’ve been amassing a wishlist. Haha

LOL at the clicker and the iPod. My friend’s dog went absolutely nuts at a laser pointer, but she also understood where the light came from. It got to the point where if she saw you pick up a laser pointer, or a pen that looked too much like a laser pointer, or heard it roll on the table, she’d turn up to 11 and start

Yeah? Any insight or advice? I’ve only owned small dogs in the past, but my understanding is that most greyhounds are really chill dogs, and chill is what I’m after.

And then there’s Martingale collars, which I hadn’t heard of before I started looking into rescuing a retired racing greyhound. They’re like flat collars, with an extra loop connecting the ends that the leash hooks onto, so it tightens when they pull, but not for correction. Just to keep the collar on wide necked,

Yes, she has a tail, which she typically stuffs into her pants (first issue of the first run has a joke about her conspicuously large, and conspicuously awesome, butt). The tail really shouldn’t fit into those pants, but I haven’t read this issue yet, so maybe there’s a silly explanation. Or it’s left silly and

I bought my backup battery on a road trip, where my GPS was eating my battery faster than my car’s crappy USB port could charge it (it’s for data, it’s barely a trickle of power) but we were in a new city and didn’t know where anything was. I keep it around for events and things, where I’ll be outside for a long time

Watching Snowpiercer, all I could think was that it was a movie so caught up in its own themes and metaphors, it forgot to make sense as a story in its own right.

I mean, mine are all dumb references to things I like, so I make them easy to remember. :) As far as relying on people’s memories... I mean, I’m all for password managers and things to make it easier to have secure passwords that are different everywhere.

I already tend towards passwords like this. I use sentences, complete with spaces, upper and lower case letters, and punctuation. Easy to remember, easy to type, hard to brute force.

I put all my lemon and lime rinds/leftover bits in the garbage disposal when I’m done squeezing the juice out of them. I’ve seen that specifically recommended before. Lemon rinds and ice cubes = clean, fresh smelling disposal.
