These women had a year’s worth of food and water purifiers. I think they were infinitely more prepared than your usual lost-at-sea-for-months-before-being-rescued stories that come along. We don’t know the specifics of their communications equipment so we should probably shut our yaps.

You can legally purchase fully automatic weapons in the US. They are expensive and require extensive paperwork, but they are not illegal and there’s absolutely no reason to rule out their use here until there is more information available. What if this guy is one of the regular visitors to Knob Creek where hundreds

There are ~40,000 deaths per year in the US with human drivers. Autonomous driving would save billions of hours. Odds are that the death toll would go down drastically. It would simplify and reduce the cost of insurance. Potential benefits are huge if/when the tech is developed. Costs of delay mount quickly.

Liability,

I’m down with this

I’ve been through 2.5 of them. The .5 was the edge of one which produced a crap-ton of rain, I missed the windy portion of it.

Not only is this statement awful for moral reasons, it’s also pretty bad for scientific reasons.

I’m a pretty big environmentalist and try to live with as small an impact as possible and you can fuck right off with that sentiment.

Fuck you. Not all of us deny climate change. Would you appreciate it if I wished you to drown? No, right? Then fuck off.

This being Louisiana? Corruption, most likely.

What the hell did they use the relief funds for? Gumbo?

Thought for sure I’d see more mentions of BitPay here in the comments. It’s like a debit card; FDIC-insured and useable anywhere Visa is accepted. You can alternately use a bitcoin ATM to cash out some of your BT.

Lol for not understanding what money is

I’m having trouble distinguishing between Bitcoin and the Mastercard in my wallet.

Environmental dreamers aren’t very good at math.

Why would it have a 5 year lifespan? ICE car sales aren’t going to zero in 5 years or even 10 years. Though this looks to be a down year in car sales, it’ll still be over 15 million cars sold. 2016 alone saw over 17 million sold. That’s new car sales. That says nothing of the used market either.

It’s a damn shame women don’t have the scientific awareness of when they’re most fertile, and that they don’t right to choose when and how to have intercourse (obviously except for rape), or the ability to take preventative measures against conception, or the ability to take responsibility for their actions. A damn

“I don’t want to have a child AND this fetus wouldn’t be viable if it was born right now” is what the Supreme Court made clear. Which, in fact, is a long way from clear in many cases. Which is the complication that the entire story was about.

and people who can’t carry a child to term can just go to hell. Thanks, have a good day

There are still plenty of people looking to adopt on top of the all the unwanted children you cite. And you’re also ignoring how this technology could benefit a woman who has found she can’t carry a wanted pregnancy to term.

“A woman’s right to control her own body is a common legal and ethical argument made in favor of abortion. Under that logic though, the law could simply compel a woman to put her fetus in an external womb, giving her back control of her own body but still forcing her into parenthood.
