EXCELLENT POINT.

This is not a gender equity issue, it’s an efficacy issue. Also, calling this “female viagra” is so god damned misleading. Viagra treats a physiological disorder, this is a psychological one. Saying this and Viagra have anything in common is like saying a dental dam and a mouth guard are similar- they both go in your

I too have BCBS. I looked it up - Viagra (as Sildenafil) is covered as a specialty drug. However, Cialis is listed as the formulary erectile dysfunction drug and it is covered as a preferred brand drug.

I would love the articles and agree 100% with what you wrote. In my wildest nightmares I could never have imagined that we would regress so much as a nation regarding healthcare, science and knowledge in general and like you said, for what?

If you would like access to academic articles on this drug, please let me know. I will send them to you.

We both have the best of intentions for female patients, and I deeply respect your position. But I just cannot support an ineffective, potentially harmful (because it decreases serotonin and increases epinephrine, it has the potential to precipitate depressive episodes and anxiety episodes) drug in the hopes that it

Here’s a novel idea. Why don’t men take the time to learn about how a woman’s body works, then make an effort to put that into practice? (Watching a steady diet of porn does not count!) Why not ask their partner what she needs from him to get her interested and willing? It’s different for every woman. Sexual response

We have Blue Cross/Blue Shield now and used to have Aetna. Both covered it up to 5 pills per month. Granted it varies from state to state and also depends on your “level” of coverage but yes, some major insurance companies do cover Viagra. Thankfully we have never needed it but it’s good to know. ;-)

Mark my words, the GOP will make something out of this. I can practically hear Rush Limbaugh right now: “Why should we have to foot the bill so some slut can take pills to make her even more of a slut”. Count on it.

From the linked Politico article: “Most payers will place the drug in tier 2 or tier 3, leaving patients with co-pays of about $30 to $75 a month”.

You’re not supposed to drink alcohol with oodles of medications, but the fact that the interaction between alcohol and this med is bad enough to require a black box warning is making me give it major side eye. Sounds bad. :\

And you can’t drink alcohol while using it, OR take hormonal birth control.

Also it only works in 8% of people! And if you’re one of those 8% you’ll have an average of 0.5 more sexual “events” per month!
