As for the QAnon stuff, I’m not diving into that rabbit hole, but I think belief in it must come from a deep need for their to be a plan, that everything has already been decided for you and you need to just let it happen. All the evidence may suggest that the universe is just chaotic, but you choose to believe that Read more

Pier 1 was where you went when you graduated college and officially became an adult. It was affordable and somewhat luxurious for early 20-somethings. Remember those beautiful hand-blown thick glassware with the cobalt blue tops? I probably spent the better part of my 20s in Pier 1. Read more

Oh in addition to my own story I used to work in emergency medical assistance and repatriation for a travel insurer, so I have a compendium of literally the worst summer holidays ever. Read more

There is no magic bullet which is going cause all of Waddles the Orange Hippo’s followers to abandon him, but a steady menu of ‘things that make him go ballistic’ could have a significant effect. These last few months appear, to me at least, to have had a significant effect on the way he looks. His weight is definitely Read more

I am preparing to dispose of some black banana’s by making banana muffins. So much easier than banana bread. They always get done in the middle and none of the cratering that takes place sometimes when doing the loaves. Using my grandma’s recipe as always (except I substitute ginger for the cloves). She approved of Read more

Anybody want to start doing a fashion thread? I know that there’s a usual cooking thread as well as shelter cat thread but I don’t really see much about fashion. And I’m a junkie. Can’t afford what I’d really love but I make do with lots of secondhand clothing stores and occasionally buy an actual new piece. SO.

Do you ever laugh at your own stupid jokes? I crack myself up the time. I have a hand crank pasta machine that was made in Italy, and every time I pull it out I laugh thinking about the person in Italy who conned their way into a job translating into English for the box. It say Pasta Fresh Maker. I think of that

This really smacks of the hysteria movement – where women, privileged white women in particular – were treated for ‘hysteria’ by a variety of drugs and objects (including early vibrators or ‘manual stimulation of the uterus’) and what it really is, is the fact that most white folks -both men and women – are really, Read more

Right? Like an ACTUAL Nazi. Not just a sympathizer, and not an unfortunate resident of a country that had already fallen victim to it, but a real live breathing Nazi. The Queen Mother’s lifelong hatred for her (and subsequent refusal to give her HRH) has a helluva lot more to do with that than because she married a Read more

The best skin I’ve ever seen was on one of my grandmother’s friends who only used Dove bar soap on her face. She honestly had better skin in her 80s than people in their 40s. Clearly a big genetic component, but I was seriously impressed.

I used Pond’s cold cream every night and have for my entire life. I am OLD. As in well over 55 and I have great skin. The rest of me is falling to pieces. I do get facials, however, and that’s when they tell me I have good skin. So I’m team Pond’s (and team Warren for that matter).

The royal family is a white hegemonic colonial institution that predictably protects sexual abusers over the only person of colour in the family. I am glad they got out from that insidious family.
