I agree with you that it also depends on the theater. The Mrs. and I saw Harry Potter in 3D at our local theater (no choice given, was the only way it was shown here) and I thought the picture looked quite sharp and bright for being a 3D flick. From the previous photos I have seen of it, including the translucent prototype Sony had on display, I believe the A77 still has a pop up flash. The pics above and the tight seams just hide it well.
