Agree, but you only need to spend a few minutes on "failbook" to see some of the stupid things people do on there.

Since when did "career driven" and "superachiever" become euphemisms for each other?
Puzzled that you regard 3-4 year life as a unique feaure of apple laptops? My last windows laptop (IBM thinkpad) is still going strong after nearly 8 years. My current (lenovo ideapad) is as good as the day it was bought, nearly 3 years ago. Everyone I know with a macbook either had cracked some part of it (the…
Did anyone else's Win7 computer s*** the bed with updates today? I had mine set for "down-load and ask to install", but for some reason it just shut down and did it anyway while I was in the middle of writing. Me no likey.
I believe Cat6 is more sensitive to things like kinks/bends in the wire, and running alongside ductwork etc. Overall it is more "picky". Thus, if using Cat6, be sure to install it really carefully or have a professional do it. Cat5 can be wired by monkeys (like me!)
A while ago, LH had a comprehensive guide on setting up a streaming webcam - I believe it was intended for use as a home security system so you can watch the house while you're at work during the day. Sounds like it might fit the bill (can't find it with the stupid new gawker nav system).
I guess the reason why we chose not to got he 529 route is it just seemed locked down too much. If we were 100% sure that our kids are gonna go to a US college that accepts such payments, then we'd do it, but right now it's just too early to know. They may study abroad (not all international universities are…
Does it have to be a macbook? Does it have to be the pro version? A very decent laptop can be had for $5-600 these days, even less if you go the netbook route.
Depends what you call a "mobile" device. If you count an iPad as mobile, then yes I carry more than one device (it and a phone).
Haven't used business cards since about 2000. Just tell someone my email or phone # and they jot it down in their smartphone. If someone gives me a card, it goes straight in the trash after the relevant info' is stored in my phone.
This is my favorite version of a rainbow desktop
Re: NYT, the phrase "I tried this a few times today to test it out, No problems yet" has me worried.
Agree. Far more interesting (and fun) to name your SSID something funny, like "XXX_PORN_CLICK_HERE".
DO NOT get a Cisco/Linksys NAS200 - slowest thing on the planet and a b!tch to get working properly.
As a scientist (biochemist) with an iPad, I can honestly say it is not the best device for composing or working with scientific things on. For example the available office type apps are not great at reproducing a variety of images in different formats (e.g. inside powerpoint slides). If you're going to be dealing…
IIRC, Apple has the bluetooth locked down pretty hard on iOS devices, so in the case of the iPhone it can only be used for a BT headset, not even for BT headphones (may be wrong on the latter?) Anyway, jailbreaking might open up your BT options a bit!
Kindle has more titles (>800k vs. around 500k on the Nook, IIRC).
As many readers will already be aware, the CEO of GoDaddy (in addition to a history of using blatantly sexist advertising), was recently all over the interwebs prioudly grinning in front of the elephant he shot dead. A boycott of GoDaddy by many green groups is rapidly gathering pace. Please steer clear of this…
doesn't CTRL + scroll do the same thing?
Of course, depending on where you live (and how closely your local authorities guard their laptops), giving your personal data to the library is no safer than giving it to Epsilon.
