@jhmallett: +1 . This is all about ready access to markets (even supermarkets). Unfortunately for us the local grocery chain (wegmans) closed down the only supermarket near our workplace (usual argument - not profitable enough) and so now despite living 2 miles from work we have to drive 6 miles out of town to go…
This worked well for the "e-ink" version of Esquire back in October 2008. Keeping it in the 'fridge, mine was still flashing a year later, but the room-temp' stored one was dead in about 5 months (yeah yeah I bought 3 copies - one for a friend, one to take apart, and one to keep for posterity). Esquire knew this too…
@StormtrooprDave: Easy...
I'd say there's one thing in favor of washed salad... it tends to keep longer in the fridge than fresh heads of lettuce. A bag of baby spinach for example will last easily a week or more. If it starts to go yukky, you can just rinse it a bit and cook it instead making a salad. Whenever we buy fresh unwashed lettuce,…
Classic "broken windows" policy advocated by NYPD in the 1980s... the way to cut down on murder and other violent crime, is to not allow small crimes (graffiti, broken windows, jumping the turnstile on the subway) to go unpunished. Crack down on the small things and you create an aura which discourages bigger crimes.
@Sov13t: If anyone owns the IP at all on multi-touch gestures, it's Adobe, not Apple. They demo'd multi touch several years ago.
@Step666: Correct, this is for anyone with a laptop older than last October (i.e. the majority of people out there).
And as an added bonus, you get to walk around afterwards with your soup-can-drill-combo and pretend to be Buck Rogers in the 25th century.
@Jake712: simplest answer is as follows.... In CO2, only the "C" comes from the fuel itself. The other bit (O2) comes from the atmosphere. So, when you burn fuel you're adding weight to it from gas in the atmosphere.
@GreasyPig: If they say it can't be used in a motion logo, and that's what you "referred to it as", then just refer to it as something else.
@anperez: +1
Cool!
@sdn: There are several free apps that run on older windows mobile smartphones (Treo etc).
Great, another way to take the humongous American carbon footprint, and make it even better "because you deserve it".
@wjglenn: I'd argue it makes sense regardless of how long you intend to stay in your house. Especially if you're paying PMI because the mortgage is more than a certain % of the value, then anything which shaves off the principle, even if only for a year or two, will save a lot.
The main problem with this approach, is that most mortgage companies will charge extra to enroll you in such a program. Mine has been asking me to do so for years, all to no avail.
