Bleh, chalk dust sticking to the bottom of coffee mugs and everything I put down on the table and then place somewhere else. No thanks.

I'd be seriously worried about the nutritional value of any chicken that costs less than $1 per lb. Go watch the movie "Food Inc." and then tell me if you're still interested in such cheap mass-produced meat.

Quick question... given your well-rounded thrashing of registry cleaners and defragmenters in the above post, why are you such big fans of Glary Utilities and CC cleaner, which contain exactly those functions?

@vlatro: Another vote on the NO side from me. All it takes is one of them to break, and do you really think you're gonna be able to pick up and find all those bits of broken glass? Also we use a push-mower, and it can really chew up the bricks we use for edging, so I'd hate to see what happens when a lawnmower

@kulacool: Definitely agree. How in the hell can more than 50% of FOOD be bought online?

People like this, is one reason I don't day-trade stocks, and try to stick with large blue-chip holdings. With people having these kind of resources, and the ability to move cash around quickly, and margin accounts etc., there's little room for the casual investor in competition.

Funny, he uses the phrase "I don't want to be a dick about it", but that's exactly what he ends up being! A Macgyver movie would have an audience of about 2, versus MacGruber which has millions of SNL fans. This guy needs to realize that it ain't the 80s any more!

One of our faculty recruiting tools is called a "chalk talk" (outdated term I know). The rationale is that a monkey can do a good powerpoint, but the thing that really distinguishes the good from the bad is an unscripted presentation.

Re: small screws, I consider it the mark of a well-done project if I have at least half a dozen leftover screws at the end of it!

@four12: 100% agree. Skip the 'bucks, and ask the concierge for a decent local java shop.

@scottbre: Agree, there is a difference between having a credit card, and using it stupidly. Just having a card does not somehow make you a moral pariah or stupid. Some people here "get it", while others are being silly and acting like the morality police - please, give it a rest!

You should also mention "Ask This Old House" on PBS. It's great for learning about new methods and products for home improvement.

Love EMSL. Their occasional "link-dump" articles are always good for killing an hour learning about something crazy.

On our 1912 house, over the past 7 years, I've done (unassisted by anyone)...

While on the subject of amateur radio, let's have a short history lesson in government control of air-waves...

Good to see the term "DIY" entering the US vocabulary. When I moved here 12 years ago, and asked for the "DIY store", nobody had a clue what I was talking about!

Love the look of the "slit" for wires, but with kids around that would be a disaster... perfect for dropping pens, coins, sandwiches and anything else they can find down there, just for the hell of it.
