Man oh man, I had no idea LH readers were so frickin' vain. Here are a few of my "fashion rules"...

@Jack0205: Over on the AskVG blog, they had a link to a free version of WinX DVD to iPod ripper a few weeks ago (I think its still available). The resolution is not fantastic (good enough for portable viewing) but each 2 hr. movie only occupies around a 1GB, so 250 movies will fit onto a small HD. Hell, anything

I don't agree with the post. Anyone that is renting an apartment is not financially "all set". To me, "all set" means I could lose my job tomorrow and still maintain the same quality of life for the foreseeable future (i.e. pretty much what happens at retirement). If you're paying for rent, where's that money coming

@maltesh+lifehacker: Yeah, those Ninjas they sell at Wegmans are just not as good. The nunchuks don't last 5 seconds.

What is a sink mat and why do I need one? Sounds like another one of those devices without a purpose which was invented to fill a need that nobody had.

Yeah yeah, just call me when netflix gets their **** together and actually...

@skittlzncombos: Wine pairings are over-rated IMHO. Lots of people now ignore the "white meat or fish = white wine, red meat = red wine" rule, because it is stupid and outdated. Just pick a decent bottle, spend about $15 and you won't go far wrong. Avoid anything older than 2006 in that price range, and avoid

@geiko: SPEAK to other French speakers at every possible opportunity. No amount of language tapes or online engagement can make up for speaking in person. Also, try and travel to France as much as possible. If that's not possible, go to the Francophone bits of Canada (Montreal is really nice in the summer).

@Chispea: I think I replied to this same thread a while ago?

And the "benefits of a reboot" are what exactly?

Office = guest bedroom (futon) with a desk in the corner and a bunch of computer stuff (server, router, network storage) in the closet, and random file cabinets and shelves littering the walls. It works well, except when people come to stay and use the computer for other things.

Am I the only one thinking... dang, one case is a LOT of patrón! Can I come to your next party?

My experience with a Netgear wireless print server was that everything is a major PITA to set up.

@jeffeb3: If it's an HP all-in-one then I would bet the answer is a definite NO. HP scanners do not like anything network at all. They seem to be happiest when talking to the gigabytes of software they come bundled with, and least happy when interfacing with 3rd party apps such as photoshop.

I believe it was over on [clientsfromhell.tumblr.com] that a client once responded to a proposed website design (with lorem ipsum) by saying "what's all this Latin, our site visitors don't understand Latin"

Circa 2003, CDs were $15-20, and iTunes MP3s (well, m4ps) were $10 for the same 10 songs. The online music market took off because it was cheaper. If the eBook market doesn't do the same, it will die.

@Chispea: I got the same with a 3G iPhone, when I plugged it into an old dock connector (one that came with a 3rd gen iPod back in 2003). It works just fine if you ignore the dialog box (hit cancel). I think its just that the old docks were not designed with enough RF interference protection to handle a cellphone.

@BishopBlaize: Yes, the difference is that this costs a lot more, and in the American model of life, more money is supposed to equal more freedom. This flies in the face of that.
